Leaders of The University of Danang and Monash University (Australia) exchanged virtually on the orientations and implementation of cooperation in the coming time

On June 22, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) and leader representatives from the UD’s functional departments, member universities, affiliated units had a virtual meeting with Prof. Abid Khan – Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President of Monash University - MU (Australia), Prof. Matthew Gillespie – Vice Provost and a number of senior officials/lecturers from MU’s offices, faculties.

Specifically, for the UD’s side, there were representatives from Department of International Cooperation, Department of Science – Technology and Environment, School of International Education, VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education, University of Science and Technology, University of Economics, University of Foreign Languages Studies, University of Science and Education, School of Medicine and Pharmacy.
For MU’s side, there were representatives from Office of Deputy Vice-Chancellor; Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences; Faculty of Business and Economics; Faculty of Information Technology; Faculty of Engineering; Faculty of Arts.

At the online meeting, Vice President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son highly evaluated the prestige and reputation of MU, at the same time expressed that the online meeting would serve as an opportunity for the two sides to discuss and determine orientations to improve bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields that the two sides have strengths and collaboration potentials, namely: Technology and Engineering, Business and Economics, Medicine and Pharmacy, Social Sciences and Humanities.

For his part, Prof. Abid Khan affirmed that the strategy of developing educational cooperation between Australia and Vietnam is an important priority. He also expected that the both sides continue to develop long-term cooperation towards mutual benefits for sustainable development.
At the meeting, representatives of the UD's member universities, affiliated units and professors of MU discussed and proposed many ideas of cooperation such as: postgraduate training, PhD co-supervision under the framework of Project 89 and Australian government's scholarships, student exchange within the scheme of New Colombo Plan, organization of joint seminars, conferences; implementation of joint research projects;...

The two sides acknowledged the results achieved since the signing of the cooperation agreement (August 2019), at the same time reviewed the specific implementation of cooperation activities between the UD's member universities/ affiliated units with MU so far.
The leaders of the two universities suggested that the concerned units continue to proactively carry out the signing of MOAs in accordance with the orientations that the leaders have discussed and agreed upon.
