On May 29th, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) hosted a meeting with Professor Ogawa Mizuhito - Chairman of Old Teachers Network (OTN) of Japan, marking a step forward in fostering educational and research partnerships between Vietnam and Japan.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Le Quang Son warmly welcomed the delegation from the Old Teachers Network of Japan to the University of Danang and expressed his pleasure at receiving the guests.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Quang Son highlighted UD’s role as a leading regional, multidisciplinary institution with six member universities and affiliated training units, offering a wide range of academic programs. He also underscored the university’s longstanding collaborations with Japanese entities, which have opened doors for student internships and employment opportunities in Japan.

Professor Ogawa introduced OTN as a non-profit organization founded in September 2024, comprising retired Japanese professors eager to contribute to global education. With his prior affiliation at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) - a partner of UD, Professor Ogawa expressed OTN’s intent to deepen ties with prominent Vietnamese universities in cities like Danang, Quy Nhon, Thai Nguyen, and Hue.

The focus areas include science and technology, particularly information technology, with planned activities such as visiting lecture by retired professors, co-supervision, and summer/autumn school.

Both parties explored mutual interests and proposed initiatives to enhance teaching and research collaboration, aiming to elevate academic standards through the expertise of seasoned Japanese educators.

Earlier that day, the OTN delegation visited UD-DUT, engaging with faculty and students from the Faculty of Information Technology in a productive academic exchange.

This partnership signals a promising future for Vietnam-Japan educational cooperation, leveraging the experience of retired professors to nurture the next generation of talent in the region.
