Plenary Technical support session on academic monitoring system

 

On March 25, 2024, the University of Danang (UD) organized a Plenary Technical support session within the framework of Partnership for Higher Education Reform (PHER) on academic monitoring system.

Overview of the Plenary Technical Support Session at UD

Attending the event were Dr. Richard Hopper - Director of PHER Project’s Management Board; Prof. Victor Borden - Senior Academic Advisor, Indiana University (USA); Dr. Nguyen Hiep - Director of UD-ODA Project Management Department; Senior Representatives of relevant departments (Training affairs, Education Quality Assurance); representatives of Rectorate Board of Directors, training affairs offices, Education Quality Assurance offices of UD’s member universities and affiliated units.

According to representatives of UD, university governance capacity was important, especially in the digital era with the advantage of applying artificial intelligence technology and big data. The best governance contributes to regularly reviewing, supplementing and improving the management and supervision system and coordinating resources to achieve the set strategic goals.

Experiences of Indiana University and experts in the management of training programs are useful references for UD in implementing a monitoring system of a synchronous and continuous training program, as a basis for innovation in training quality management.

Highly appreciating the companionship and participation of UD’s member universities and affiliated units, representative of UD-ODA Project Management Board hoped and requested delegates to actively exchange and share their concerns and difficulties in practice; proposed and consulted experiences from Professor Victor Borden, thereby promptly providing appropriate and effective solutions, contributing to perfecting the program monitoring system as well as improving and enhancing the efficiency of the internal quality assurance system of UD and other UD’s member universities and affiliated units in the coming time.

Discussion session

At the Technical Support Session within the framework of the PHER Project, delegates listened and discussed openly and frankly with Prof. Victor Borden-Indiana University (USA) on key thematic contents having practical significance for research and appropriate application to practical conditions such as: Experience in university governance in monitoring and managing training programs; How to measure quality effectiveness through KPI indicators to evaluate training programs; build "Data Mart", a library of evidence from existing data sources (such as the HEMIS System); Periodic and annual training program monitoring reports and application of standards and criteria to develop self-assessment forms...

Discussion session

Previously, also within the framework of the PHER Project sponsored by USAID for 03 leading universities in Vietnam (UD and 02 Vietnam National Universities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City), UD also recently organized a technical support session on scientific integrity and research ethics in academia.

The training program monitoring system contributes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of university governance innovation

The PHER Project created opportunities to connect and support consultation on developing and innovating the Vietnamese higher education system, enhancing sustainability, autonomy and improving management capacity to serve the goal of improving quality of training and scientific research, innovation and business cooperation.
