On December 26, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, President of the University of Danang (UD), welcomed Ms. Maria Georgievna Mizonova, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Danang, to a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation in education and research.

The meeting brought together representatives from UD’s key units—including the Departments of Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance; Science and International Cooperation; Student Affairs, Partners and Communications—as well as leaders from member universities, including the University of Science and Technology, the University of Economics, and the University of Foreign Language Studies. The Russian Language Department also attended, reflecting the university’s longstanding commitment to Russian studies.

At the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu introduced the University of Danang as one of Vietnam’s largest higher-education systems, comprising six member universities and serving more than 65,000 full-time students. He highlighted UD’s role in training high-quality human resources for the region and the nation, with strengths in engineering, technology, economics, education, and foreign languages.

He outlined four strategic priorities for UD: strengthening partnerships with high schools to promote STEM education and career guidance; expanding collaboration with industry to align training with workforce needs; enhancing international cooperation amid global integration; and deepening engagement with government agencies to address real-world challenges.

He expressed hope that the Consulate General would continue to support UD by facilitating connections with leading Russian universities. Proposed initiatives include joint research projects, two-way faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative academic programs.

Consul General Maria Georgievna Mizonova commended the longstanding Vietnam–Russia relationship, noting the milestone of 75 years of diplomatic ties. She highlighted ongoing cooperation, including partnerships between UD’s University of Foreign Language Studies and Russian institutions such as Far Eastern Federal University, Moscow State Linguistic University, and Herzen State Pedagogical University. UD’s School of Medicine and Pharmacy is also working with Yaroslavl State Medical University, while engineering and technology cooperation is expanding with Baikal State University and universities in the Ural region.

The Consul General underscored opportunities for further collaboration in fields such as oil and gas, where UD is engaged with major enterprises including Gazprom and Vietsovpetro. She also encouraged UD students to participate in international events, including the Robotics Innovation Competition in Krasnoyarsk.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint research, educational exchange, and cultural cooperation. UD also expressed interest in expanding English-taught programs to attract international students and strengthen global engagement.

The meeting concluded with UD designating its Department of Science and International Cooperation as the focal point for follow-up coordination, ensuring alignment with the shared strategic vision of UD and the Russian Consulate General.
