02/03/2026
On 27 February 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan, Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) hosted a working session with Mr. Ozasa Haruhiko - the Chief Representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Hanoi and Mr. Kobayashi Keisuke - Kobayashi Keisuke - Deputy Chief Representative of JETRO Hanoi Office.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan - Vice President of UD respectfully welcomes the leaders of Jetro to visit and work with UD at the beginning of the Spring season, opening up more opportunities for collaboration and development of high-quality human resources.
Vice President Nguyen Manh Toan noted that UD has been selected by the Central Steering Committee for the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation as one of four universities to receive priority investment to become a model institution for Vietnam’s higher education system (under Conclusion Notice No. 45-TB/TGV).

This is a great opportunity and a great responsibility for UD to maximize its potential, mobilize resources, and collaborate with ministries, departments, localities, organizations, businesses, and universities both domestically and internationally in achieving the goals and tasks outlined in Conclusion No. 45. This is a new opportunity for UD to strengthen coordination and collaboration with Jetro to promote university-enterprise cooperation.
UD hopes that its partner will act as a bridge to introduce businesses and experts to collaborate in training and utilizing high-quality human resources.

According to Mr. Ozasa Haruhiko - the Chief Representative of Jetro, in the context of the increasingly developing comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, Jetro not only has the mission of promoting trade cooperation but also aims to connect UD with businesses, especially in human resource training and research and development, innovation.
Japanese businesses highly value cooperation with universities, especially UD, in supporting graduates to become full-time employees at major corporations and businesses abroad. After establishing a solid career, these employees are prioritized for appointment or dispatch to key leadership positions in member units and branch businesses in Vietnam. This experience has demonstrated the capabilities and eagerness to learn of former and current students of UD, which are highly valued by Japanese businesses.

A prime example is the recent first-place win by a team of students from UD – University of Science and Technology in a competition on mold design in the field of precision mechanics (see here), according to a Jetro representative.
In July, 2026, UD and the city of Da Nang are planning to organize a tripartite collaboration workshop (State - University - Business). UD hopes that Jetro will support and connect with more corporations and businesses to participate, collaborate, and share experiences in entrepreneurship, product research and development, and market research with the University.
UD leadership also hopes that Jetro will help invite leaders, senior managers, and entrepreneurs from Japan to lecture on specialized topics, inspiring entrepreneurship and innovation among students.
