Recently, just before the Lunar New Year, Dang Quynh Chi, a student from University of Economics – The University of Danang (DUE-UD), had the honour of being the only representative from Da Nang in the Vietnamese student delegation (comprising nine members) attending the ASEAN - Japan Student Conference (JENESYS).

This is a people-to-people exchange program for students that contributes to the connection between Japan and ASEAN countries.

The program is sponsored and directed by the Japanese Government with the aims of building trust and mutual understanding, creating a foundation for developing friendly exchanges and cooperation in many fields of culture, society, history, economics, politics and diplomacy between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

According to Dang Quynh Chi, the program featured many attractive and beneficial activities, providing opportunities for participants to visit Japan and take part in forums, seminars, and both in-person and online exchanges. A particularly significant and honorable moment was when she was able to speak, express her perspectives, and propose solutions and ideas on a globally relevant topic - climate change adaptation and the use of clean energy to protect the environment.

Through these activities, the Vietnamese student representatives contributed the voice of young people, shared their vision, and collaborated in developing concrete plans and decisive actions to address challenges and promote sustainable development in the new era.

Another eye-opening experience for Chi was visiting the Izunuma-Uchinuma Wetland Conservation Center in Miyagi Prefecture, where she witnessed firsthand the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

The DUE-UD student shared that this journey has nurtured her passion for learning and research while strengthening her sense of responsibility toward the community in her homeland, Central Vietnam which also faces sustainability challenges closely linked to environmental protection.

Stories about human resource development, scientific research, and technology transfer at Chiba University of Commerce, along with memorable experiences from her homestay in Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture, left a lasting impression on Chi and her fellow participants about Japan’s people and culture.

According to the representative of the Department of Science and International Cooperation - UD, in 2023, Dang Quynh Chi was also an outstanding student who won first place in the Digital Storytelling Competition with the theme: "Students’ Experiences with Diversity and Cultural Intersections." She had the honour of representing the UD students at the International Student Boot Camp under the HARMONY Project at Varna University of Management, Bulgaria.

Thanks to a dynamic educational environment that fosters student learning, creativity, and international projects - particularly those that promote student exchanges between the UD and reputable partners - an increasing number of outstanding students have had the opportunity to participate in global events. This not only enhances their integration capabilities but also contributes to elevating the university’s reputation in the process of higher education internationalization.
