Students of UD have more and more opportunities for international academic exchange

01/07/2025

In recent times, with the strategic direction of enhancing international student exchange in both directions (inbound and outbound), students of the University of Danang (UD)  have had increasing opportunities for international academic exchange and interaction.

Within the framework of cooperation between the Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) - UD and King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand, nine VKU students recently departed for Thailand on June 24, 2025. They have begun an internship program at KMUTNB, which will last until August 31, 2025.

According to representatives of VKU, these are outstanding students from the Information Technology program (English-Vietnamese bilingual program), specifically chosen from the Faculty of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. They were selected for their exceptional academic results, particularly their strong English proficiency and passion for scientific research.

The program consists of  two phases:

The online phase (from May 13 to June 21): This phase helped students familiarize themselves with the international learning and research environment;

The in-person phase at KMUTNB (from June 24 to August 31): This phase truly offers students a chance to gain practical experience by participating in research activities and projects alongside professors, experts, and international students.

According to the student representative, they were guided and encouraged to share ideas, applying their knowledge and teamwork skills in highly practical academic activities. These included: optimizing traffic systems, applying machine learning, deep learning, and AI methods in cyberspace, and real-time sentiment analysis.

Notably, KMUTNB is fully sponsoring the living costs for VKU students, providing a monthly internship allowance of 10,000 THB, along with accommodation and transportation throughout their internship period. VKU is also contributing $468.5 USD per student to help cover round-trip airfare, insurance, visa fees, and living expenses. This support comes from an ODA project funded by the Korean government for the 2022-2027 period.

Previously, from June 9-15, eight VKU students also had the opportunity to experience and participate in the KMUTNB Leadership Camp - 2025. This international leadership summer camp, held at KMUTNB, focused on the theme of "Technopreneur Skills for Global Innovators".

This is an annual international-scale program that attracts hundreds of students from universities across the Asia-Pacific region (Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan-China, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.). It aims to inspire the development of young global innovators who possess both entrepreneurial capabilities and a strong desire for international integration and reach.

For students at UD-UED, international academic exchange activities have also been consistently taking place. This includes interactions with international students from partner universities visiting the school, as well as student delegations from the university visiting partner institutions.

From June 23, 2025, to July 6, 2025,  a delegation of faculty members and 44 students from various faculties participated in a short-term student exchange program at Udon Thani Rajabhat University (Thailand).

The program, which falls within the framework of international student exchange cooperation, offers many beneficial activities. These include: experiencing specialized courses, engaging in language and cultural exchange, exploring arts, and visiting Thailand's heritage sites, tourist destinations, and places of cultural and historical significance.

According to student representatives from the university, this wasn't just an internship trip to enhance academic knowledge, but also a memorable and beneficial journey that helped students broaden their horizons, improve their professional expertise, language skills, and develop global integration capabilities. It was a maturing experience where students could develop soft skills, enhance foreign language proficiency, and expand their international perspective.
