The 1st Korean Movie Dubbing Contest 2026: Cultural and Academic Convergence Among Foreign Language Students

On May 30, 2026, the Finals of the 1st Korean Movie Dubbing Contest, themed "The Sound of Love," took place at the University of Da Nang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS). The event attracted a large number of students majoring in Korean language and culture, as well as young people with a passion for creativity and cinematic arts.

According to Dr. Huynh Ngoc Mai Kha, Vice Rector of the University, the contest is not only a playground for students to satisfy their passion for creativity in Korean language and cinema but also an approach to the trend of integrating academic knowledge with culture.

Welcoming and sincerely thanking the international partner agencies and organizations that accompanied this inaugural contest for the university's students, the representative of UFLS-UD's leadership affirmed that this is a beneficial activity with a fresh approach, boosting motivation and excitement for students to learn and explore the Korean language.

According to Mr. Oh Jungtaek, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang, the Consulate General highly appreciates the university's proactiveness and responsiveness in organizing the program. He also stated that alongside teaching and spreading the beauty of the Korean language, academic and cultural competitions actively contribute to fostering the bridge of friendship and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea.

According to Mr. Tran Hieu, Chairman of the Vietnam - South Korea Friendship Association of Da Nang City, the contest signifies a convergence of academics and culture, contributing to fostering the flourishing relationship between the two countries through younger generations, among whom students are dynamic young ambassadors always striving toward humanitarian values in life.
In the Final round, the competition was organized into two divisions: Division 1 (Professional) for students majoring in Korean at universities; Division 2 (Non-professional) for middle and high school students.

The contestants vividly and creatively demonstrated their dubbing performances, showcasing their Korean proficiency combined with character psychological and emotional analysis, dialogue communication techniques, teamwork, and expressiveness throughout the segments.
Through the contest, students showed thorough preparation for their language practice, creative passion, and cultivation of an emotionally rich, practical foreign language capability. The competition also demonstrated its effectiveness by leveraging resources connecting the University with agencies, organizations, associations, and enterprises to accompany students on their journey of international integration.
