On the morning of July 7, at the University of Danang (UD), in an exciting and solemn atmosphere, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Minister of MOET on recognizing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Member of the Executive Committee of Da Nang city Party Committee, Secretary of UD’s Party Committee, President of UD (term of 2018-2023) to hold the position of President of UD according to the term of UD's Council (2021-2026).

During the last term, with the efforts and consensus of the leaders, officials, lecturers and students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu successfully led UD with  impressive results such as: Formulating and promulgating the UD’s Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; The policy of developing UD into a National University included in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo; The quality of UD’s training, scientific research and technology transfer has been continuously improved; The number of international publications and research projects/topics, cooperation with localities, businesses, and international cooperation have increased rapidly; The employment rate of graduates is quite high; UD's facilities are invested and enhanced to meet the needs of teaching-learning and scientific research; The construction project of UD in Hoa Quy-Dien Ngoc achieved important prerequisites for the next stages.

Besides the great, important, and comprehensive achievements; frankly admitted that there were still limitations and shortcomings in the context of the socio-economic situation with many challenges and difficulties in the face of the requirement to constantly improve the quality of training, to attract and retain talented people.

(1) Successfully implementing the UD’s Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, focusing on successfully implementing the policy and task of developing UD into a national university; (ODA projects with the capital loan from the World Bank). "This is a very important and strategic task for the long-term development of UD."

(2) Focusing on the development of lecturers with doctorate degrees or higher; having solutions to attract leading and prestigious scientists at national and international level. At the same time, attaching special importance to the planning and promotion of democracy in the selection of leaders and managers at all levels to have a team of cadres with "heart and vision", ensuring the inheritance and meeting requirements in the new situation.

(4) Promoting scientific research associated with innovation. Developing reasonable and outstanding mechanisms and policies to enhance international publication and promote research, transfer, and application, especially encouraging scientists to participate in solving practical problems in the process of socio-economic development of localities and businesses so that UD is truly a center for scientific research and technology transfer. Continuing to foster international cooperation to enhance exchange of lecturers, students, and joint research projects to enhance capacity building  and international integration.

(5) “Students are the center” in all activities; the policies must be oriented towards learners to create a safe and healthy learning and living environment; creating conditions for students to develop their capacities and talents, especially encouraging and supporting students to participate in scientific research.

(6) Continuing to innovate university governance towards modernity and professionalism associated with digital transformation. Having to take "Essence-Effectiveness" as a "measurement" in all activities of UD’s member universities and affiliated units. Strengthening the management of all aspects of activities; focusing on inspection and self-inspection in order to promptly correct the limitations and shortcomings.

(7) Having a reasonable financial policy to harmonize between the requirements of strengthening the facilities and the demand of  increasing the income for the employees, in which the human expenditure needs to be paid firstly, because human is the precious capital of a university, the decisive factor for the success or failure of a unit or organization.

(8) Focusing on communication to improve the image and position of UD and its member universities, especially internal communication with the publicity and transparency of all activities so that everyone can know, discuss, and participate in supervision, and at the same time be very vigilant for false information, causing internal disunity.

(9) Continuing to promote the role of mass organizations in building unity block, creating a truly democratic, humane, and pedagogical working environment.
