The President of Danang University received the Deputy Mayor of Cannes, Republic of France

On October 27, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) chaired the meeting with Mr. Thomas de Pariente - Deputy Mayor of Cannes, Republic of France.

Along with the delegation were Mr. Azinheirinha Lauriano - Head of Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur Tourism Office and Mr. Gay Jean-Christophe - Scientific Director, Côte d'Azur Tourism Institute - University of Côte d'Azur.

Also attending were Prof.Dr.Sc. Le Thanh Nhan - Dean of UD - Danang International Institute of Technology (DNIIT), representatives of UD - Department of International Cooperation and the UD - Center for Learning Resources and Communications.

At the reception, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD respectfully welcomed the Deputy Mayor of Cannes and the Delegation to visit and work with UD.

Introducing of the overview and highlights of UD, which is currently a national key regional university, multi-disciplinary, multi-field, one of the three leading training, scientific research and international cooperation centers in Vietnam with 06 member universities and affiliated units, the President of UD said that, after nearly 50 years of construction and development, the UD’s member universities have trained and supplied tens of thousands of engineers, officials, teachers, experts, and entrepreneurs to serve the socio-economic development of the Central Highlands region as well as the whole country.

Generations of UD’s alumni are  holding key positions in agencies, organizations, unions, universities/schools and businesses; making positive contributions for the cause of Industrialization and Modernization of the country.

UD received attention from the Vietnamese Government and prioritized investment in ODA projects (with two universities: Vietnam National University in Hanoi, and Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City) to strive to realize the aspiration to becomethe National University (according to the Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo).

To achieve this strategic goal, UD always considers international cooperation as one of the important mission, which attaches great importance to cultivating cooperative relationships with agencies, organizations, partner universities and businesses, especially from France and Europe.

Recently (October 24-25), UD just had a series of seminars, working events and signed a cooperation agreement with the Ulysseus European University Alliance, thereby agreeing UD will become the first non-European member of Ulysseus Alliance, opening a new period of cooperation and development (learn more here), President of UD Nguyen Ngoc Vu shared.

Through the visit of the Deputy Mayor of Cannes, the leaders of UD expressed the wishes and hopes of partners of the city of Cannes as well as the Côte d'Azur region, including the University of the Côte d'Azur, which is a strategic partner of UD, will act as a connection to support UD in developing more cooperative relationships with prestigious agencies, organizations and universities in France and Europe.

Talking with the leaders of the UD, Mr. Thomas de Pariente - Deputy Mayor of Cannes, France expressed his joy and respectfully thanked the President of UD for giving the delegation a warm and respectful welcome.

Introducing the city of Cannes as a destination for world-famous cultural, artistic and tourist events in the Côte d'Azur region with the annual Cannes International Film Festival voted and rated as one among the three most attractive destinations in Europe, Deputy Mayor Thomas de Pariente said that this is also the location to open a branch of Côte d'Azur University, focusing on developing training majors in the fields of science and technology, creativity, culture and art.

This will be an opportunity for Cannes city to continue expanding cooperation with Vietnamese universities, including UD located in Da Nang city with great potential for tourism and major event development; Hopefully Cannes city will be a new destination for international students, including students of UD.

The purpose of this visit was not only to understand the needs and opportunities for cooperation between Cannes city and Da Nang city but also to learn and work with UD to jointly promote cooperation in training, researching majors such as tourism, museums, exhibitions and event communication which are strengths that Cannes city can connect and cooperate with UD, Deputy Mayor Thomas de Pariente shared.

In an atmosphere of sincerity and understanding, leaders of UD and the city of Cannes as well as the Institute of Tourism - Côtes d'Azur University and UD-DNIIT discussed and shared common concerns, considered the visit as a good opportunity to grasp needs and develop potential cooperation.

The two sides shared their wishes and proposed strengthening connection and support to have more and more students exchange activities to participate in international summer schools, thereby contributing to promoting cultural, artistic and tourism events of the two cities of Cannes and Da Nang, promoting cooperation in training and developing high-quality human resources to contribute to the development of the region and the country.
