On the afternoon of October 11, 2022, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) chaired the meeting and worked with Prof.Dr. Abdelhakim Artiba - President of the Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France (UPHF), France.

At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu-President of UD welcomed Prof. Dr. Abdelhakim Artiba-President of UPHF and the Delegation visited and worked with UD. The President of UD introduced the overview and highlights of UD as a national key regional university, multi-disciplinary, multi-field with 06 member universities and affiliated institutes, faculties, branches and centers.

UD is prioritized for investment by the Vietnamese Government, permitted to participate in large projects (PHER- The Partnership for Higher Education Reform Project funded by the U.S. side, ODA Project for the development of UD Urban Area) to develop worthy to be one of the top three training and scientific research centers of the country.

Sharing with the partner about sustainable development goals focusing on improving the quality of training, scientific research and strengthening international and business cooperation, the President of UD affirmed that he always appreciates and attaches great importance to promoting cooperation relationships with prestigious universities, including universities of the French Republic.

With the similarity that regional universities are multi-disciplinary, UD’s President Nguyen Ngoc Vu expressed his wish that in the coming time, the two sides can promote cooperation in such areas as: cooperation and exchange lecturers (UD sends staff and lecturers to work as PhD students at UPHF under Project 89 of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam); joint research cooperation, participating in major international projects, etc.

Talking with the leaders of UD, Prof.Dr. Abdelhakim Artiba-President of UPHF expressed his pleasure to visit and work with UD. This was the first business trip after nearly 3 years affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Vietnam, as well as UD, was the destination that the UPHF Delegation chose to prioritize the connection and cooperation development in the context of the new normal, the President of UPHF shared.

With the advantage of being located in a large industrial region of the French Republic (such as the offices located in Valencienens), having close relationships with many enterprises in the fields of engineering and technology, the UPHF side wishes to cooperate in research in the fields of Transport, logistics, smart city (applied to the reality of Da Nang city); exchange lecturers, students, searching for international funding projects, etc.

Attendees discussed, proposed ideas and solutions according to the contents and orientations of the leaders of UD and UPHF such as: Developing joint training programs, enhancing exchange of lecturers and students, etc.

In an atmosphere of understanding and sincerity, the leaders of the two sides agreed on the orientation of cooperation in the coming time, assigned the relevant departments to continue researching and promoting the signing of the MOU with the following key contents: exchange lecturers as doctoral students at UPHF (under the Project 89), exchange students to go for internships at UPHF member/affiliated institutions; scientific research cooperation in the fields of both sides' needs and strengths; development of training programs (2+2, 3+1), co-degree programs…

Since 2017, UD and UPHF have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to exchange lecturers and students within the Erasmus+ Project. This was a premise for the two sides to continue promoting cooperation, searching for joint research projects, solving local problems, contributing to regional and national development.

UPHF is one of the major training and scientific research centers of the French Republic. It currently has 04 campuses in: Valencienens, Cambrai, Maubeuge and Arenberg.

UPHF has a training scale of about 12,000 students with strengths in many fields: Science and technology, social humanities, health, transportation, logistics, etc. UPHF is aiming to develop the model of the National Institute of Applied Sciences (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées-INSA) to become the 6th INSA of the French Republic.
