The University of Danang affirms its outstanding role in promoting international cooperation and integration at the Vietnam-Australia: Unlocking Opportunities in Education and Agrifood Conference 2023

On the morning of March 31, 2023, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) and representatives of leaders of UD’s member universities and affiliated training units and relevant departments (International Cooperation, Student Affairs) students) attended the Vietnam-Australia of Trade, Education and Agrifood Conference 2023.

This is an event that takes place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia by the Australian Trade and Invesment Commission (Austrade), the Australian Embassy and the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the People's Committee of Da Nang city to organize.

At the conference, UD Vice President Le Quang Son gave a prominent speech in the plenary session on promoting cooperation opportunities between the two countries in various fields, including education.

Appreciating the significance of the Conference in the series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia, UD Vice President Le Quang Son would like to extend his best wishes and thank the partners, agencies, organizations and Australian universities for their interest, cooperation and companionship with UD in the mission of training and developing high-quality human resources.

As a national, multi-disciplinary regional university with 06 member universities and 05 affiliated training units, with a training scale of more than 55,000 students/ international students, UD is interested in by the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training, and other ministries and branches of Vietnam; and is invested in important development projects (the Cooperation Project on Renovation of Higher Education with 02 National Universities, the ODA Loan Project from the World Bank to contribute to the construction of the UD Urban Area…) to become one of the three leading centers of training, scientific research and technology transfer and innovation in the country, on par with the regional and international level, towards realizing the aspiration to build UD into a national university (according to Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo).

In order to realize the development strategy and vision in the new period, UD focuses on promoting international cooperation activities, affirming its pioneering and active role, promoting deep and effective integration with the development of the internationalization of higher education, in which Australian agencies, organizations and universities are always important and close partners.

With a tradition of good cooperation and currently cooperating with many prestigious Australian universities such as: University of Queensland (used to support UD in capacity building, training highly qualified staff and lecturers), Monash University, The University of Adelaide, etc., we hope that from the imprint of this Conference, UD will continue to be a "destination" with Da Nang city to promote cooperation in education, science and technology and cultural exchanges, and contribute actively in the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia - said UD Vice President Le Quang Son.

According to Ms. Eliza Chui, Austrade's Counselor in charge of Education, Vietnam currently has more than 27,000 international students studying at Australian universities and research institutes and more than 8,000 students studying at international schools/ universities in Vietnam (granted by the Australian side); more than 300 cooperation/ association programs between training institutions of the two countries; Vietnam is Australia's fifth largest international education market.

Participating in discussion sessions at the Conference, representatives of the UD's Department  of International Cooperation also actively participated in the discussion on UD’s international educational cooperation, proposed ideas and orientations for cooperation in the field of education in the coming time with Australian partners such as: Strengthening cooperation in training, transitional training; Organizing international events and conferences; Cooperating in exchange of lecturers (connecting with leading prestigious universities, including Australia participating in doctoral training under Project 89 of the Government of Vietnam), students exchange (searching and expanding other scholarship sources); promoting cooperation in foreign language training, sharing useful information sources and learning materials, etc.
