The University of Danang applied online technology to connect with international partners in the context of Covid-19 prevention and control

In the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic's spread in many countries around the world, international cooperation is one of the fields that are affected seriously. To adapt to this context, the University of Danang (UD) has applied information technology to connect online with international partners to maintain relationships.
Recently, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of the UD, worked online with Prof. Matthew Sacco - Director of International Enrollment Partnerships - George Mason University (USA), through which the two sides explored the needs and orientations for cooperation in accordance with their potentials and strengths such as: lecturers and students exchange; joint training and research in natural sciences, engineering, technology, economics, entrepreneurship, communication, education and social services, etc.

Previously, at a virtual conference attended by Mayor of Salo city (Finland) Lauri Inna and Vice Chairman of Danang City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh, by combining video presentation with online exchange, the speech of the UD's Vice President Le Quang Son was highly appreciated when proposing initiatives to promote the industry - academia collaboration with the Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and other prospective partners in Salo.
In the near future, the UD will continue to coordinate with Finnish partners to organize an online conference with the participation of Finnish billionaire Peter Vesterbacka (founder of Rovio brand and the global famous game Angry Birds) and a number of innovative businesses, universities.

During the peak period of the Covid-19 prevention and control on a global scale, many international cooperation activities of the UD were carried out online as following:
(1) The cooperation programs between the Monash University (Australia) with the UD's member units: 2+2 transfer training cooperation with the VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education, training and research collaboration with the UD's School of Medicine and Pharmacy, the UD's Institute for Advanced Science and Technology;
(2) The UD's International Cooperation Department widely circulated to member and affiliated units the call for application of "Management of Internationalization" training course which will be organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in collaboration with the Leibniz University of Hannover (for staff and lecturers);
(3) Online summer courses and student exchange programs: the free course on Collaborative Online International Learning for students from the member universities of UMAP (University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific), the online summer course enabling virtual tours to the Surabaya University's campus and famous destinations in Indonesia, etc.
The UD's leaders also frequently contacted and exchanged online with partners, for example sending video to congratulate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the King Mongkut Institute of Technology - Ladkrabang (Thailand), carrying out virtual meetings with partner universities (in Lithuania, Spain, Hungary, Turkey, etc.) within the framework of the Erasmus+ project.

The recent appropriate adjustments towards promoting online technology applications in international cooperation have demonstrated the efficiency, dynamism and adaptation of the UD in the context of Covid-19 prevention and control, as the message of the UD: "Cooperating with universities around the world to act together in the prevention and fight against the Covid-19. Despite the social distancing, we are always close in mind and heart".
