On the morning of November 27th, the European Union (EU) Delegation and Member States Ambassadors (Finland, Austria, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Sweden, France, Ireland, Spain, Hungary, Czech, Slovakia) to Vietnam was led by H.E.Mr. Giorgio Aliberti – EU Ambassador visited the University of Danang (UD).

The visit took place on the occasion of 30^th anniversary of the diplomatic relations establishment between Vietnam and EU. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of UD presided over the meeting.

Opening the meeting, President Nguyen Ngoc Vu expressed the warmth welcome to the EU Delegation and Members States Ambassadors visit to UD.

President highly appreciated the significance of the Delegation's visit in a consideration of a valuable opportunity for UD to increase its understanding, broaden and deeper the ties and cooperations with European partners, contributing to nurture the Vietnam-EU strategic partnership relation, especially in the fields of education, science and culture.

Speech by H.E.Mr. Giorgio Aliberti-Ambassador - EU Delegation to Vietnam

The President of UD introduced the outstanding achievements as well as the development strategy of UD to become one of the three prestigious centers for training, scientific research and international cooperation in Vietnam, reaching the regional and international level.

UD especially attaches great importance to international cooperation with European universities, partners, and businesses and up to now has established cooperative relationships with more than 40 universities, research organizations and institutions of the EU, thereby contributing to enhancing the reputation, training and research capacity of UD.

As a member of the ASEAN European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET) and Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), UD has learned a lot of experiences from the advanced education of Europe, actively participates in and contributes to many international projects, including the Erasmus + Program funded by the EU.

President Nguyen Ngoc Vu kindly expressed his sincere thanks to the EU Ambassador and Member States Ambassadors. Through the Ambassadors, the UD’s President would like to thank the European organizations, partners and universities for their great support and valuable cooperation during the time and wish to continue receiving the attention and support of EU ambassador in the near future.

Speaking to the leaders and student of UD, H.E.Mr. Giorgio Aliberti - EU Ambassador emphasized the tradition of cooperation between Vietnam and the EU over the past 30 years as well as a long history of with Member States before.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the role of UD in training human resources, developing science and technology, promoting cooperation with EU universities and partners, including the participation of students in global issues such as environmental protection, climate change adaptation, clean energy development, renewable energy and sustainable development.

“Vietnam has a lot of potentials of development, and students have many opportunities to study and develop at EU partners and businesses, especially when the European – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement comes into effect, more favorable conditions for investment and business between the two sides shall be created”- shared Ambassador.
