On the morning of June 19, within the framework of PHER project, the University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with Indiana University, USA (IU) organized the meeting session on Internal Quality Assurance, through which IU experts consulted and shared many useful experiences to improve the internal quality assurance system of UD as well as its member universities, contributing to constantly improve the quality of training, scientific research and international integration.

Attending the session were Dr. Richard Hopper-PHER Project’s Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu-UD’s President; Prof. Victor Borden-IU Academic Advisor; Dr. Nghiem Xuan Huy - Institute for Education Quality Assurance, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President.

The meeting’s attendees were also members of IU and UD's PHER Project Management Board, senior representatives of Rectorate boards of UD’s member universities, affiliated units, and functional departments, officials and lecturers of the Offices of Educational Quality Assurance of UD’s member universities and affiliated units.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President emphasized the role of the internal Quality Assurance System in particular, the quality assurance mission and education quality accreditation in general towards UD as well as its member universities and affiliated units. It has a strong impact on development strategy to constantly improve the quality of higher education institutions, especially in the context that the policy of developing UD into a national university has been approved in Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Central Committee.

Vice President Le Quang Son highly appreciated the experience of PHER experts, especially Prof. Victor Borden of IU - a prestigious public university of the United States which has the similar strategies and governance policies with the model and system of UD. Therefore, the advices and supports from IU experts are expected to  be useful for UD’s members universities and affiliated units in improving and enhancing the capacity and efficiency in educational quality assurance.

During the morning session on June 19, the delegates listened to a report from Prof. Victor Borden- IU's Academic Advisor on key contents such as: Strategies for development and management of educational quality assurance in higher education institutes: Methods of supporting and developing the internal quality assurance system, How to build a culture to foster the evidence-based improvement; Governance policy for quality assurance: Constituent groups and rules for effective construction...

The technical meeting session of PHER project at UD would be carried out from June 19 to 21 with many important topics and contents such as: Monitoring the internal quality assurance system; Data infrastructure of the internal quality assurance system; Internal Quality assurance activities from the reality of universities; Building the Internal Quality Assurance System for UD and the case of UD- University of Science and Education.
