The University of Danang (UD) is ready to collaborate with leading universities to train human resources to support the development of high-tech industries.

The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) recently held a seminar to gather feedback on the draft proposal “Training Human Resources to Serve High-Tech Development for the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2045.” The University of Danang (UD) is one of the six top universities selected, alongside the two National Universities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the University of Danang, University of Hue, University of Thai Nguyen, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. These institutions have been chosen to participate in, propose, and invest in strengthening facilities and implementing talent training programs.

Opening of VKU Fintech Hub to meet the needs of practical experience with advanced technology for lecturers and students

According to representatives from MOET, the proposal aims to mobilize and effectively use resources to train high-quality, talented human resources to serve the development of high-tech industries in general, and specific key sectors in particular, meeting the country's requirements for rapid and sustainable development in the face of challenges and opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Ready to train and supply human resources in Financial Technology to help Da Nang become a major financial hub

The goal of the proposal for the period 2025-2030 is to achieve a 35% participation rate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields at each educational level. Annually, around 5,000 engineers, master's graduates, and 500 PhDs are expected to graduate from talent-focused programs in key high-tech fields.

At least three universities offering STEM programs will be ranked in the top 300 worldwide; two institutions focused on artificial intelligence and one in biotechnology will be ranked among the top 20 in Southeast Asia…

Three UD’s member universities: UD- University of Science and Technology, UD- University of Technology and Education, and UD-VN-Korea University of Information and Communication Technology signed MOUs with the Da Nang Semiconductor and AI Center for Research and Training

Speaking at the 2024-2025 academic year conference of the Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, President  of UD, stated that the university is included in a priority investment focus by the Party, Government, and MOET to develop into a National University, “one of the top three centres for training and scientific research in the country, with prestige and influence regionally and internationally.”

UD-DUT put into operation the IC design practice room

UD has strong capabilities in training engineers in semiconductor technology and other high-tech fields, with a long-standing tradition and experience in engineering and technology education. Its core institutions include the UD-DUT, UD-UTE and UD-VKU.

Having the advantage of being located in Da Nang, a liveable city, UD has the conditions to attract many talented people and good students to study, so the quality of admission is quite high; along with the tradition of diligence and studiousness of the people of the Central region, it is the premise for training high-quality human resources. Typically, Synopsys Da Nang has up to 90% of its employees graduated from UD-DUT;

UD-University of Economics opened DUE-MB Digital Hub

UD has a team of staff and faculty members trained abroad, and skilled in their professional fields and languages. It also has a strong tradition of international cooperation with many reputable partners, especially in the field of semiconductor chips from the US, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

UD currently offers most fields and specialties in high-tech sectors such as Semiconductor Design, Artificial Intelligence, and Financial Technology, which contribute to meeting the high-quality human resource needs for the development of the North Central era - Central Coast region, Western Highlands regions, and the whole country. The university is also proactive in anticipating labour market trends and international integration.

UD-UTE opened IoT Lab

In 2024, the admission scores for specialized programs like semiconductor design at UD were quite high: the Computer Engineering program specializing in Semiconductor Design (engineer) at UD-VKU had an admission score of 27; the Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering program specializing in Semiconductor Design at UD-DUT had an admission score of 26.31; and the Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering program at UD-UTE had a score of 23.55.

Along with increasing the number of qualified lecturers, UD is also focusing on enhancing its facilities, including laboratories and experimental equipment, in collaboration with both domestic and international businesses. Notable developments include: UD-DUT opened a lab for semiconductor design practice; UD-DUE cooperated with Military Bank to open the DUE-MB Digital Hub; UD-UTE opened an IoT lab; and UD-VKU launched the VKU Fintech Hub for training, research, and innovation.

Thus, UD is fully prepared to implement human resource development projects in line with the government and MOET’s initiatives, alongside other major universities in the country, to train high-quality human resources to serve the development of high-tech industries.
