September 9-12, 2024, The University of Danang - University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT), The University of Danang - University of Technology and Education (UD-UTE) in collaboration with Maebashi Institute of Technology, Japan, organized practical academic activities connecting architecture with the preservation and promotion of local culture.

Research topics and academic exchanges associated with the development
of traditional culture of Hai Chau communal house, Da Nang city
The academic seminar with the theme "Establishing architectural space - urban landscape associated with traditional cultural values of Hai Chau communal house, Da Nang city" is the 8th cooperation program organized between the parties.

The faculties of architecture and construction of UD-DUT and UD-UTE
have academic exchanges with Maebashi Institute of Technology, Japan
According to the representative of the Organizing Committee, the seminar aimed to contribute to the application of academic knowledge to meet practical needs, especially in construction and architecture, harmoniously combining with the preservation and development of traditional cultural values with local tourism. Through applied research and practical activities to enhance academic exchange, contribute to improving the quality of training and scientific research for officers, lecturers and students in the fields of architecture and construction.

Students confidently presented ideas and research results to learn from experts
The seminar was attended by Professors from Maebashi Institute of Technology, Japan, such as: Prof. Tsuneo Ishikawa, Prof. Kazuki Karashima; Architect Nguyen Van Duy - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Chau District which is managing, promoting and exploiting the values of Hai Chau Communal House; representatives of leaders, lecturers and students of the Faculty of Architecture (UD-DUT) and Construction Engineering (UD-UTE).

Students have the opportunity to develop ideas and creative thinking, apply them into practice
Along with the information and knowledge shared and exchanged at the Seminar, universities and academies divided into groups to conduct field surveys at the Hai Chau Communal House research area (Hai Chau I Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City).
Representatives of the Faculty of Architecture, UD-DUT highly appreciated the cultural and historical value of Hai Chau communal house, built in the 19th century, which can be considered a cultural symbol of the locality with ancient communal houses imbued with traditional identity, with red tiled roofs, large wooden pillars and a system of sophisticated carvings on horizontal lacquered boards and parallel sentences.

Contributing knowledge to serve the economic, cultural and social development of the locality
With the sharing and guidance of experts and lecturers, students from the faculties of architecture and construction of the two universities enthusiastically participated in research, perfected ideas, proposed solutions with lecturers and presented scientific reports.

Expanding research space from the classroom to reality is a suitable direction in the context of
promoting academic exchange and international communication
Connecting exchange and international cooperation through academic activities associated with the need to contribute knowledge to solve local economic, cultural and social development problems is a suitable direction, not only expanding the research space from the classroom to reality but also creating opportunities for students to experience and learn from experts, apply usefully, and contribute to serving the community for sustainable development.
