On May 28th, 2025, at the University of Science and Technology (DUT) - UD, a working session and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) took place between the university and the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) focusing on  supporting the development of human resources  and the application of high-speed railway technology.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, Rector of the UD-DUT, with 50 years of tradition in training and research in technical and technological fields, the university has always been a pioneer, proactively preparing and actively participating in human resource training for key national projects, including the high-speed rail industry, which is currently undergoing accelerated training and enrollment.

This is a strategic national transportation project, meeting the country's development needs in the new era. It aims to complete and develop sustainable transportation infrastructure, keeping pace with international demands and trends.

This significant milestone will create a solid foundation for UD-DUT, with the companionship and support of reputable partner KORAIL, to develop and enhance its capabilities in training and research within the field of modern railway systems.

According to Mr. Kim Won Eung, Executive Vice President of KORAIL, the enterprise possesses strong potential and advantages, currently operating South Korea's extensive railway network, including the KTX high-speed rail technology system (speeds over 300 km/h).

This collaboration is part of a strategy to expand influence and provide international support to meet the demand and development plans for high-speed railway human resources in Vietnam (2025-2030), which is being implemented and developed by KORAIL in collaboration with the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR).

According to the content of the signed MOU, the two parties will promote cooperation in developing training and technical railway programs, particularly focusing on high-speed and electrified railways. They will collaborate on research, co-organize, and implement research projectsconcerning smart operations, railway traffic safety, green energy, and emission reduction. The agreement also includes establishing simulation laboratories, applied research centers, and sharing specialized academic materials.

Additionally, it includes the implementation of internship programs and exchanges for lecturers and students, providing opportunities for students from the University of Science and Technology - UD to access the professional environment and advanced technology of the Korean railway industry.
