On the morning of August 30, 2025, University of Economics (DUE) - University of Danang (UD) solemnly held the 50th Anniversary Ceremony of construction and development (1975 - 2025).

According Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy - Rector of UD-DUE warmly congratulated and sincerely thanked the leaders, distinguished delegates, and previous generations, teachers, staff, employees, and former students/trainees of the school who laid the foundation, contributed their efforts and intelligence to the development of UD-DUE.

This is a ceremony for teachers, friends, and those who have worked closely with and had beautiful memories with the school; an opportunity to review together the memorable journey that generations of teachers and students of the school have gone through, to be proud of the sustainable values, to foster more inspiration, aspirations, and look towards the future.

Rector of UD-DUE said that over the past 50 years, with the advantage of being located in the dynamic city of Da Nang, UD-DUE has made continuous efforts to build and develop, becoming a leading training, scientific research and policy consulting center, a pioneer in university autonomy, affirming its position in the national university education system.

The highlight is that UD-DUE has trained tens of thousands of bachelors, masters, and doctors, providing high-quality human resources for the Central Highlands and the whole country, contributing to the socio-economic development.

Rector of UD-DUE highlighted the orientations, solutions and key tasks in the new period, accordingly continuing to implement the Development Strategy of UD-DUE to 2030, vision 2040; persistently renewing thinking and action, comprehensively renewing university governance associated with digital transformation, green transformation and innovation; sustainably developing the University on 05 pillars: Training, research, operation, governance and connection, serving society.

At the Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Member of the City Party Committee, President of UD delivered an important speech, affirming that today's event is a milestone in the process of half a century of formation and development of the UD-DUE; an opportunity for generations of teachers and students of the University to review together the memories of the years full of hardships and challenges but also full of joy, memories and pride.

UD-DUE has continuously grown comprehensively in all aspects from scale, training quality, staff development, facilities to scientific research capacity and international integration. 

It can be affirmed that the contributions of UD-DUE in the past 50 years are extremely great, especially in training and supplying tens of thousands of cadres and economic experts for the country.

President of UD shared that the domestic and international context, especially when Da Nang city after the merger with the expanded space, many new models and growth drivers are being implemented such as: Free Trade Zone, International Financial Center... is a great opportunity for UD-DUE to make a breakthrough in development.

President of UD suggested that UD-DUE should focus on building a Development Strategy with the determination to build the University into a leading economic training and research center in the country, aiming at the region and the world; a prestigious policy consulting center in the Central region and the whole country.

To achieve the above goal, President of UD Nguyen Ngoc Vu oriented and suggested that the University focus on 03 key tasks and 05 orientations.

Regarding the 03 key tasks:

(1) Creating breakthroughs in scientific research, innovation and transformation in the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. This is both a political task of a university and an urgent requirement of the country in the new era.

Therefore, UD-DUE needs to encourage and create all conditions for lecturers and students to participate in scientific research, focus on prioritizing investment in scientific research and innovation, create an academic environment associated with the startup ecosystem, develop strong research groups, closely connect with businesses and the government, be ready to participate in solving the country's major problems regarding economic restructuring towards digital economy, green economy, circular economy, etc. The University must truly become a trusted address for research and policy consulting in the region and the whole country.

(2) Focus on improving training quality. This is considered the red thread that runs through and is vital to a university, and is also a social responsibility and a glorious mission when the country needs high-quality human resources more than ever.

Therefore, UD-DUE needs to focus on developing a team of highly qualified teachers, increasing investment in facilities; being sensitive to opening new training majors, programs taught entirely in English; promoting international student exchanges; actively innovating content, programs, and teaching methods in the context of the 4.0 Revolution and the explosion of artificial intelligence; selecting a number of key majors with strengths to invest heavily in, striving to reach regional levels and reach the world level. 

UD-DUE strives to be a trusted training address in the choice of parents, students and society. The choice and recognition of society have more real meaning than any ranking.

(3) Pay real attention to student affairs, consider learners as the center, policies need to be student-oriented; create a safe and healthy academic and living environment; Prioritize investment in funding for students doing scientific research and activities so that students have conditions for comprehensive development. 

Regarding the 05 orientations as follows:

1- Strengthening the connection with high schools on developing STEM education and foreign languages ​​to improve input quality

2- Promoting cooperation with enterprises in training, scientific research and innovation to train in line with the requirements of use.

3- Expanding international cooperation to enhance the exchange of teachers and students, and research cooperation to create more resources for development and integration.

4- Focusing on relations with ministries/sectors/localities to participate in research, development, commenting, and policy criticism so that universities must become centers for research and policy consulting on socio-economic development of the country and localities; bringing universities closer to society.

5- Innovating university governance associated with digital transformation towards serving society and learners.

President of UD shared the message, with the motto "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity - Development", hoping and requesting UD-DUE to continue to promote its glorious tradition, maintain the aspiration for innovation and integration, be truly dynamic, creative, have a far-sighted vision, great aspirations, high determination, and take drastic actions to make the University develop in a breakthrough way, becoming a key university, leading in economic training in Vietnam.

At the Ceremony, UD-DUE was honored to receive the Emulation Flag of the Government, the Flag of the People's Committee of Da Nang City and Certificates of Merit from the Chairmen of the People's Committees of the provinces (Hue, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri); Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR.

02 collectives and 10 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Education and Training. 05 collectives and 10 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Director of UD.

The representative of the school's alumni, Mr. Pham Nhu Anh - General Director of the Military Bank also expressed his gratitude and wish to accompany; symbolically awarded scholarships from the "Good Seeds" Scholarship Fund, which initially raised more than 6 billion VND voluntarily for students. 

UD-DUE also organized many practical and meaningful welcoming activities and events such as: The 11th International Conference for Young Scientists in Economics and Business (ICYREB-2025); Art program "50 years - Imprints of a journey".
