21/12/2025

On the morning of December 18, 2025,  The University of Danang - University of Economics (UD-DUE), in collaboration with the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and Massey University (New Zealand), co-organized the International Conference on Climate Change 2025 (VSCT-2025).

Attending the conference were Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, President of UD; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong, President of AVSE Global; Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy, Rector of UD-DUE; Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh, Party Secretary and Chairwoman of the University Council of UD-DUE; along with reputable scientists, lecturers, and experts from Vietnam and abroad.

According to Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Anh, the conference is a significant scientific event jointly chaired by the University and prestigious international partners, helping strengthen research and academic networks while contributing to addressing global challenges.

The conference is particularly meaningful as Vietnam, and many provinces in the Central region, frequently suffer losses and heightened risks caused by climate change, environmental issues, and natural disasters—factors that affect socio-economic development and macroeconomic policymaking.

At VSCT-2025, participants listened to and discussed two keynote presentations: “Resource Adequacy in the Low Carbon Electricity Markets” by Prof. Derek Bunn (London Business School, United Kingdom) and “Climate Risks and Financial Stability” by Prof. Dayong Zhang (Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, China). The keynote speakers shared in-depth scientific insights closely linked to real-world practice, and proposed directions and solutions to proactively respond to climate change and environmental challenges.

A new highlight of VSCT-2025 was the roundtable discussion on “International Financial Center for Effective Climate Transition”, focusing on policies and international experiences that can be studied and applied to support Da Nang’s strategy to develop an International Financial Center.

Delegates shared practical ideas and proposals, focusing on defining the role of the financial system, the legal framework, and effective instruments capable of promoting sustainable growth alongside effective climate change adaptation. The discussions also put forward feasible recommendations, solutions, and policy options for Viet Nam in general and for the Central region in particular.

VSCT-2025 also featured six parallel sessions with 33 papers and scientific presentations, vividly demonstrating the role and academic prestige of UD-DUE as a trusted venue for national and international conferences and forums. The event brought together the domestic and international scholarly community to contribute knowledge, dedication, and shared efforts toward sustainable development.
