UD-DUE launches the Institute for Research and Training in FinTech, Innovation and Sustainable Development

On May 29, 2026, the University of Danang - University of Economics (UD-DUE) held a ceremony to announce the establishment of the Institute for Research and Training in FinTech, Innovation and Sustainable Development.

The event was attended by Dr. Ho Ky Minh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Da Nang Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, and Chairman of the Executive Agency of the Da Nang International Financial Center; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Member of the Da Nang Party Committee and President of the University of Danang (UD); Mr. Etienne Ranaivoson, Consul General of France in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Olivier Vigna, General Manager of Paris Europlace; representatives from the Da Nang Department of Finance; leadership from the Da Nang International Financial Center; Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy, Rector of UD-DUE; alongside leaders of UD’s functional departments, faculty members, partners, and students.

According to Prof. Dr. Le Van Huy, Rector of UD-DUE, this is a strategic move aligned with the practical development needs of Da Nang and reflects the university's commitment to its 50-year legacy of development in the city.
The University is deeply aware of its role in supporting the city's new development phase, particularly the establishment and operation of the International Financial Center and the Free Trade Zone, aimed at fostering the digital economy, sustainable green finance, and a robust innovation ecosystem.
With the establishment of the Institute for Research and Training in FinTech, Innovation and Sustainable Development, the University will actively contribute its intellectual resources, including lecturers and students, to support human resource development, scientific research, policy consultation, and expert networking for the sustainable development of the city.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, President of UD stated that the city's new growth drivers, such as the International Financial Center and the Free Trade Zone, alongside the demand for high-quality human resources in banking, FinTech, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, represent a significant opportunity for the staff and students of UD and UD-DUE.
President of UD emphasized that the establishment of this Institute is a clear testament to the university's dynamic and innovative approach, strengthening the "triple-helix" linkage (Government -University - Industry) and attracting international partners.

The leadership of UD-DUE outlined three core strategic directions for the Institute:
1- Service to the Da Nang International Financial Center: Collaborating with executive agencies to conduct research, propose policies, provide professional training, and connect experts in FinTech, digital finance, digital assets, green finance, ESG, carbon markets, and international financial services.
2- Creation of Practical Solutions: Developing tools for market operations and policy testing, including: FinTech assessment reports, ESG disclosure frameworks for businesses, Green Taxonomy toolkits, carbon market research products, and risk management reports for digital assets.
3- Strengthening International Cooperation and Strategic Partnerships: Building partnerships with experienced institutions and organizations such as the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Paris Europlace, the financial industry organization that brings together a comprehensive network of stakeholders, including corporations and enterprises operating across various sectors of the Paris financial center ecosystem, as well as regulatory and supervisory authorities.

A notable highlight is that UD-DUE has invited Mieszko Mazur, Director of the FinTech Program at EMLV Business School, France, and a renowned expert in FinTech and digital assets, to serve as the Scientific Director of the Institute.
According to the Rector of UD-DUE, this appointment will help connect the Institute with an international network of experts, providing support for the development of academic programs .
During the event, UD-DUE signed cooperation agreements with the Da Nang Department of Finance, Paris Europlace, and Tether Group to expand collaboration in research, training, and the digital finance ecosystem.
Following the ceremony, the University hosted an international seminar titled "Developing Digital Assets: Lessons from France and Strategic Directions for Vietnam’s International Financial Center in Da Nang," bringing together policymakers and experts to discuss the future of digital assets and the development of the city's international financial hub.
The establishment of this Institute serves as a solid foundation for bridging academic research with practical policies, positioning UD-DUE as a key contributor to the development of Da Nang, the Central Region, and Vietnam as a whole.
