On the morning of April 17, 2026, the University of Danang – University of Economics (UD-DUE) successfully organized DUE OPEN DAY 2026, attracting a large number of high school students from various secondary schools across Da Nang City. This was a golden opportunity for young people to explore a dynamic and modern learning environment while gaining insights into the latest trends in the tourism industry in the era of green and sustainable development.

Throughout the program, students enjoyed a wide range of engaging activities, including lively teambuilding games, attractive photobooth check-ins, and the DUE Masterclass series featuring real classroom visits. A particular highlight was the Amazing Tour area, where the Faculty of Tourism’s booth became a major attraction. In addition to exciting minigames and special gifts, students received enthusiastic and detailed career counseling from the Faculty’s lecturers, helping them gain clearer direction in choosing their future major and university.

A standout feature of the Faculty of Tourism’s booth this year was the presence of the SOHO project. The Faculty set up a dedicated promotional booth for the project “Smart, Optimized, High-Quality, and On-Demand Tourism Innovative Education for Sustainable and Green Development” (SOHO). Lecturers from the Faculty directly introduced the project to students and parents, sharing the vision of smart tourism education integrated with digital technology, renewable energy, and sustainable development.

The SOHO project (Project Code: 101129336) is co-funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) and runs from February 2024 to February 2027. The University of Danang serves as the lead institution in Vietnam. The project aims to support higher education institutions in applying smart technologies, renewable energy sources, and digital solutions to create sustainable, efficient, and personalized learning experiences in tourism education.

At the SOHO booth, students learned about the project’s key components, including:

  • The Learning Management System (LMS) and innovative curriculum design;
  • Training materials and courses on smart transportation, smart buildings, and renewable energy in tourism;
  • The Knowledge & Competence Center supporting sustainable tourism education at the University of Danang;
  • Capacity-building opportunities for lecturers, students, and industry stakeholders.

Photos of students, lecturers, and Faculty of Tourism members checking in next to the SOHO project banner – featuring the message “Smart Tourism – The Future of Vietnam’s Tourism Industry” – created a youthful, modern, and inspiring atmosphere. Many students expressed excitement upon discovering that tourism education at DUE not only provides traditional knowledge but also equips them with the mindset and skills needed for the rapidly growing “green and smart tourism” trend worldwide.

DUE OPEN DAY 2026 concluded with many memorable moments and positive emotions. Through the Faculty of Tourism’s booth and the SOHO project display, high school students gained a fresh perspective on a promising field of study and a clearer understanding of the sustainable development direction that the University of Danang is pioneering.

The Faculty of Tourism – University of Economics, The University of Danang hopes to continue accompanying young people on their journey to explore and shape the future of Vietnam’s smart, high-quality, and environmentally friendly tourism industry.
