03/01/2026
University of Science and Technology (DUT) - The University of Danang (UD) organized a conference to roll out the implementation plan for developing digital competencies for lecturers under the ACCESS Project (Erasmus+), funded by the European Union for the 2025-2028 period. The project aims to foster the development of a digital ecosystem in Vietnam’s higher education sector.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu, the Rector of UD-DUT, the University consistently prioritizes strengthening cooperation with international agencies, organizations and universities to build and refine the model of an innovation-driven and digital university, thereby improving training quality, scientific research and international integration for sustainable development.

Highly appreciating the ACCESS (Erasmus+) Project as an opportunity for the University and Vietnamese higher education institutions to enhance lecturers’ digital competencies and leverage international experience, the Rector of UD-DUT expressed his hope and confidence that the conference would open up new opportunities for professional exchange and practical experience sharing, thereby contributing to the completion of a comprehensive digital ecosystem in university governance.

With the consultation, professional orientation and experience sharing of experts from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) and European partner universities (University of Mons, Belgium; University of Patras, Greece), together with representatives of many universities and research institutes participating in the Project, the conference focused on several key agenda items, including:
Assessing the current status of digital competency frameworks and reference standards adopted by international universities;
Identifying practical needs and conditions for implementing digital competency development plans at Vietnamese higher education institutions;
Developing a common reference framework to promote the training and development of digital competencies across member universities of the ACCESS Project.

In thematic sessions, delegates and experts discussed and presented in-depth topics such as: assessing the current digital competencies of lecturers and the support needs of universities; defining domains and levels of digital competencies; and proposing improvements to the process of developing competency groups by domain and proficiency level.
The outcomes of the conference not only laid an important foundation for enhancing the digital capacities of the lecturer workforce, but also contributed to promoting sustainable digital transformation in Vietnamese higher education. At the same time, they reaffirm the international reputation and role of UD-DUT in the process of integration and internationalization of higher education.
