On the morning of June 17, 2026, the University of Danang (UD) held a conference to announce decisions on leadership appointments for the Party Committee of UD and the Boards of Rectors of its member universities.

At the conference, decisions regarding the leadership of the Party Committee of the University of Danang were announced. Accordingly, the Party Committee of the Da Nang People’s Committee approved the election results appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Member of the Da Nang Party Committee and President of UD, as Secretary of the Party Committee of UD for the 2025–2030 term (Decision No. 1621-QD/DU), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Minh Duc, Vice President of UD, as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of UD for the 2025–2030 term (Decision No. 1622-QD/DU).

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu stated that, in implementing Resolution No. 71 of the Politburo on breakthrough development in education and training, including the policy that “the Party Secretary concurrently serves as the head of the educational institution,” and based on directives and guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Party Committee of the Da Nang People’s Committee, UD had proactively and rigorously carried out leadership appointment procedures for its member universities in a timely, democratic, transparent, and compliant manner. The process received strong consensus and support from university leadership teams and key personnel.

The newly appointed Rectors and Vice Rectors all received exceptionally high levels of confidence from university leadership teams and key officials. The conference therefore marked the simultaneous announcement of leadership appointments for all six member universities of UD.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, the event carries historic significance not only for the development of the member universities and UD as a whole, but also demonstrates the strong political commitment of the entire UD system in implementing the Party’s policy on renewing leadership mechanisms to ensure the direct and comprehensive leadership of Party organizations over educational institutions in the new development stage.

As one of the four leading universities selected by the Government for prioritized strategic investment to serve as a model for Vietnam’s higher education system, with the goal of ranking among Asia’s Top 150 universities by 2030, UD is entering a period of unprecedented opportunity for breakthrough development. At the same time, this distinction brings significant responsibilities and pressures in fulfilling national development aspirations.

The President of UD urged the newly appointed leaders of member universities, particularly the heads of institutions, to immediately focus on several key priorities:

1- Thoroughly grasp the current context, objectives, requirements, and assigned tasks in order to formulate practical action plans with breakthrough solutions to successfully accomplish strategic goals.

2- Uphold internal unity as the foundation for mobilizing collective strength toward transformative development. Institutional leaders should serve as centers of solidarity and cohesion, inspiring trust, aspiration, and commitment among staff, faculty members, and students, while standing firmly for integrity, fairness, and justice.

Leaders at all levels should regard institutional development as the guiding principle for both thought and action, embracing the spirit of placing collective interests above personal interests. They should also strengthen the role of mass organizations in fostering a working environment characterized by **“Unity – Democracy – Discipline – Humanity”**, encouraging creativity, dedication, and shared growth.

3- Continue proactively strengthening support and cooperation with ministries, government agencies, local authorities, enterprises, and domestic and international universities to build an ecosystem for education, scientific research, and innovation, thereby contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for the nation in its new era of advancement.

4- Place strong emphasis on Party-building efforts, particularly personnel development, Party member management, and leadership mechanisms to ensure the direct and comprehensive leadership of Party organizations in fulfilling political tasks. Institutional governance should be strengthened to prevent corruption, wastefulness, and misconduct.

5- Promptly review organizational restructuring plans to ensure a streamlined, efficient, and effective governance system, while selecting and assigning capable, ethical, and competent personnel to appropriate positions, recognizing that human resources are decisive factors in the development of UD.

6- Fundamentally reform staff evaluation mechanisms based on KPIs and performance outcomes to support personnel deployment, income allocation, rewards, and disciplinary actions in a transparent, objective, and merit-based manner, thereby creating motivation for institutional development.

On this occasion, UD leadership expressed sincere appreciation to leaders of MOET, the Da Nang municipal government, local authorities, enterprises, partners, and the wider community for their continued support of UD and its member universities, and expressed hope for their ongoing cooperation in the years ahead.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu noted that this pivotal moment in UD’s development requires breakthrough thinking, decisive action, and effective implementation to achieve the strategic objective of transforming UD into one of Vietnam’s three leading centers for higher education, scientific research, and innovation.

UD places great confidence in its newly appointed leaders and renewed organizational structure, expecting them to continue demonstrating professional competence, leadership capacity, and a strong sense of responsibility while working collectively to advance their institutions and contribute to the sustainable development of both the education sector and UD.
