30/05/2025

The number of international students enrolling at member schools of the University of Da Nang is on the rise, with participants from over 20 countries and territories worldwide. These students not only play a crucial role in achieving the university's goals and strategies for enhancing integration and internationalisation in higher education, but they also act as cultural and tourism "ambassadors" who help promote the beauty and hospitality of the city to friends around the world.

Students Manon Brun and Gihan Zhiri from the University of Côte d'Azur in France shared "Our time studying at the University of Economics - the University of Da Nang not only allowed us to gain valuable knowledge but also provided numerous opportunities for exchange and exploration. We will definitely share stories about the education, culture, and people of this beautiful coastal city with our families, teachers, and friends."

Meanwhile, the annual programme of sightseeing, cultural experience and language practice for international students studying Vietnamese at the University of Education and Science - the University of Da Nang offers good opportunities for international students to visit, learn, experience culture, history and practice Vietnamese.

"International students are very interested in activities that allow them to explore and check in at famous tourist attractions in Da Nang. These sites include the Da Nang Museum, the Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Marble Mountains, the Sun World Ba Na Hills, and the Son Tra Peninsula.

This initiative aligns with the spirit of Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW from the Politburo, which emphasises the need to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training, as well as to promote the introduction of Vietnamese language and culture abroad" said Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Rector of the University of Education and Science.

Similarly, the University of Foreign Language Studies - the University of Da Nang regularly receives students and trainees from Japan, Thailand, China, South Korea, France, and Laos who come to study, exchange, and research.

In 2024 alone, the university had more than 200 international students studying in the faculties of International Studies and English Language. It also worked with relevant departments, branches, and associations to organise large-scale international cultural exchange activities, such as South Korean Cultural Exchange Festival, and Maslenitsa Festival - Russia.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of the University of Foreign Language Studies, all abovementioned activities demonstrated the school's mission with a 40-year tradition of training and researching international languages, cultures, and civilisations.

The Spring Kulturstudier Programme, hosted by the Viet Nam-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK) in collaboration with the Norwegian organization Kulturstudier, marks a significant milestone in international student exchange. This year’s programme, now in its fourth edition, has attracted more than 40 students from Nordic countries, along with VNUK students chosen as ambassadors to connect international participants with the culture and landscapes of Da Nang.

Over the course of 10 weeks, students engaged in seminars, visited local businesses and production facilities, explored the area's cultural heritage, and participated in cultural exchanges with the Co Tu community in the Hoa Vang District.

The international student exchange programmes at the University of Da Nang not only promote culture and tourism but also emphasise community service projects. A notable example is the 8th edition of the Learning Express programme, a collaboration between the University of Science and Technology and Singapore Polytechnic, which took place at the end of April.

Students from both universities actively participated in field projects within traditional craft villages in the Hoa Vang District. They proposed improvements to production processes and introduced new technologies to support the development of these craft villages.

Ms. Nur Aliffar Binte Nasrun, head of the Singapore Polytechnic student delegation, recognised this approach as an effective method of learning, research, and teamwork. It fostered connections between students from both countries within the ASEAN bloc, allowing them to contribute their knowledge and youth to the community.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quang Son, Vice Rector of the University of Da Nang, attracting international students not only adds value to learners by fostering academic development and exchange, but also enhances prestige, creates an international environment for higher education, and promotes Da Nang to friends from the four corners of the world.
