University of Technology and Education – the University of Danang inspired a passion for scientific research and creativity in high-school students

With the guidance of lecturers from University of Technology and Education – the University of Danang (UTE-UD), the scientific research topic of Le Quy Don gifted high school’s students had just been published in “Processes” - the prestigious journal (ranked Q2, with the influence index of 2.753, in the ISI list).
Under the framework of cooperation relationship, UTE - UD had supported Le Quy Don gifted high school’s students in a lot of research and creative activities. In particular, Pham Tran Hoang Kim, students of class 11B1, participated in scientific research with the topic: "Potential Cultivation of Lactobacillus Pentosus from Human Breastmilk with Rapid Monitoring through Spectrophotometer method". The research team of Biotechnology Division - Faculty of Chemical Technology - Environment, UTE - UD including Dr. Nguyen Thi Dong Phuong-Head of Division, Dr. Nguyen Sy Toan, Doctoral student Tran Thi Ngoc Thu had accompanied and guided student Hoang Kim to conduct her scientific research.

During the three-month summer vacation of 2019, Hoang Kim had an interesting experience at UTE-UD’s laboratory as well as collected breast milk at Danang Hospital for Women and Children, isolated bacteria and identified the micro bacteria, gram stain, antibacterial testing ... The stages were quickly conducted by Kim thanks to the enthusiastic guidance and support of UTE-UD’s lecturers.
Finally, the scientific work was published in the prestigious scientific journal of the ISI list (Institute for Scientific Information, USA) with the title "Potential Cultivation of Lactobacillus Pentosus from Human Breastmilk with Rapid Monitoring through Spectrophotometer method". This was the first time a high-school student had an international article as a role of co-author.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Cao Tho – UTE-UD’s Rector shared that Hoang Kim was a typical evidence of the effective cooperation relationship to help students have more opportunities to develop their passion for research and creativity. This would be a new policy showing UTE-UD’s mission and social responsibility, associated with Danang high schools.
Also, in July, UTE - UD in collaboration with Le Quy Don gifted high school successfully organized a program of “being a student for a day, attracting more than 120 students and teachers of these two schools. This was a great opportunity for students to exchange and learn more about the higher education environment, thereby UTE-UD’s lecturers inspired a passion for research and creativity in high-school students.
The cooperation of the two schools brought many career opportunities for students
Mr. Le Vinh, Principal of Le Quy Don gifted high school highly appreciated the significance of these activities, considering it as "one of the four pillars towards the comprehensive development for students", in which focusing on scientific research activities to help students be independent and creative; develop their foreign language proficiency and use information technology applications skillfully.
"To achieve these goals, we really need the support of experts and scientists. Therefore, the long-lasting cooperation relationship with UTE - UD will promote our scientific research activities and help students to reach their dreams ", said Principal Le Vinh.
