The University of Danang strengthens traditional cooperation with The Université Grenoble Alpes
29/11/2025
During the working trip to the French Republic from November 23-38, 2025, after successfully completing the working program at the University of Côte d’Azur, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) and the working delegation visited and worked with traditional partners in Grenoble.

On November 27, the delegation visited and worked at CEA-Leti Grenoble (Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives-Laboratoire d’électronique et de technologies de l’information).
Working with UD’s delegation were Prof. Jean-Rene LEQUEPEYS, Deputy Director of CEA-Leti and Mr. Bruno PAING, Head of the International and European Cooperation Department (formerly the Cultural-Scientific and Technical Counselor of the French Embassy in Hanoi, playing an important role in developing the PFIEV High-Quality Engineer Program).
The two sides introduced their activities, research programs, and ongoing projects to identify areas of cooperation that both sides are interested in. Potential areas in which the two sides can specifically cooperate include: Chip-semiconductor, microelectronics, renewable energy, hydrogen production and storage, batteries, and medical electronics.
In the near future, UD can select outstanding graduate students to send to CEA to do their thesis in the form of a “sandwich” with co-supervision.
Experts with in-depth expertise in the field of chip-semiconductors can cooperate with UD in consulting on the development of training programs, scientific research and product development in accordance with the actual situation and development trends of this field in the world.
On this occasion, the Delegation visited CEA's product introduction center, especially the research center for microtechnology applied in biology and health care.
CEA-Leti is a leading French applied research institute, located in Grenoble, specializing in microelectronics, nanoelectrons, sensors, microsystems (MEMS), advanced materials, and communications/location technologies.
Leti was founded in 1967, with the mission of transferring technology from the laboratory to the market, promoting the semiconductor industry and the French and European deep technology ecosystem. Taking advantage of the Grenoble scientific-technical cluster, closely linked to Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), CNRS, Grenoble INP, and businesses, Leti has built up R&D capabilities from foundational research to prototype manufacturing.
In the field of applied microelectronics and MEMS/sensors, CEA-Leti is considered a world leader thanks to its rare combination of research depth, advanced manufacturing infrastructure, broad partner network and tangible commercial impact.

On November 28, Prof. Yassine LAKHNECH - President of UGA worked with the Delegation of UD. The two sides discussed the results of cooperation between the two sides in training and scientific research.
Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) is one of the oldest universities in France, founded in 1339.
Since the 1980s, Grenoble Polytechnic University (INPG), now a member of UGA, has received lecturers from Vietnam’s polytechnic universities for postgraduate training.
Many lecturers, upon returning home, have become leading officials and university education managers. Thanks to that group of lecturers, Vietnamese technical universities have updated their training programs, developed research cooperation relationships, and promoted educational innovation.
For nearly 45 years, UGA has maintained a close relationship with Vietnam’s polytechnic universities through the PFIEV High Quality Engineer training program.
Entering a new phase, the two sides continue to promote the achievements they have made, promoting cooperation in the following areas: (1) Chip-semiconductor, microelectronics, sensors; (2) Artificial intelligence, IoT, digital transformation, micro-electromechanics; (3) Nuclear energy, renewable energy; (4) Research on natural risks and climate change. Danang University will send students to study engineering and postgraduate students to Grenoble to do their doctoral theses. The two sides signed a cooperation document, affirming to continue developing the good traditional relationship that the two sides have built over the past half century.

After the working session with the leaders of UGA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD and the delegation discussed specific cooperation programs with the leaders of the Grenoble INP – UGA led by Prof. Gulgun ALPAN.
Grenoble INP – UGA will update the signed document with the University of Science and Technology - UD on new points in the signed document between UGA and UD.
Grenoble INP will promote the reception of UD students to study part-time to receive double degrees; strengthen cooperation in doctoral training in priority areas that both sides have signed.
Also during this visit, the UD delegation had a working session with member universities of UGA (University of Science, Doctoral School, Master's training programs in nuclear energy, Technical training school...). The exchanges were very open in the spirit of promoting cooperation in areas that UD prioritizes for development.
Also during this visit, the delegation of UD had a working session with member universities of the UGA region on Master training programs in nuclear energy, Technician training school, etc. The exchanges were very open in the spirit of promoting cooperation in areas that UD prioritizes for development.
