On April 23, 2025, the opening ceremony of the international scientific conference on "The Asian Workshop on Wide Bandgap Semiconductor Materials and Devices, AWWBSMD-2025" takes place at The VN-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education (VNUK), the University of Da Nang (UD).

The opening ceremony will be attended by professors: Prof.  In-Hwan Lee, Korea University, South Korea; Prof. Yuantao Zhang, Jilin University, China; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Giang Thi Kim Lien - Vice Dean of VNUK, Chair of the Workshop; Mr. Duong Hoang Van Ban - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City; Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President UD; Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Nhan - Director, Da Nang International Institute of Technology; and representatives of VNUK Institute leaders.

Attending were representatives from the leadership of: member universities, the Student Affairs, Corporate Relations and Communication Department of UD, the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center (DSAC), along with scientists, experts, lecturers/researchers, and students of VNUK.

In opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Giang Thi Kim Lien - Vice Dean of VNUK, Chair of the Workshop, sincerely gratitude to the leaders of Da Nang City and UD, leadership team of VNUK Institute and the Organizing Committee for their support and collaboration in holding this international academic event at UD in the beautiful and hospitable coastal city.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we sincerely thank and deeply appreciate the professors, international scientists and experts from Korea and China who have  endured long travel and prepared valuable scientific presentations for the workshop.

The workshop offers a valuable opportunity for academic exchange, update, publish research findings and new knowledge in the semiconductor field in particular and in science and technology more broadly, contribute significantly to the enhancement of professional training and scientific research among faculty members, staff, and students of VNUK and UD.

The message shared by AWWBSMD-2025 is Science knows no borders, and it helps the academic community connect for a better life.

Also at the Plenary Session, Delegates heard a general guiding speech from the co-Chairs of the Conference Organizing Committee: Prof.  In-Hwan Lee - Korea University, South Korea; Prof. Yuantao Zhang - Jilin University, China, discuss the significance and role, and trends of Wide Bandgap Semiconductor Materials, a field with numerous applications in high-power electronics, sensors, as well as renewable energy and optical communication.

The workshop takes place from from the 22^nd to the 24^th of April, 2025, featuring 06 reporting sessions that gather the intellect and experience of scientists and experts from domestic and international universities (Korea University, Jilin University, Peking University, Hanyang University, VNUK Institute, UD).

The in-depth discussion sessions are connected to promote research collaboration in the semiconductor field, a key area in which UD is a member of the Alliance of Leading Vietnamese Universities developing high-quality human resources for the semiconductor chip industry.

AWWBSMD-2025 was held in Korea in 2015 and continuously until 2024 in China, the first time that the VNUK Institute of UD is the destination within the ASEAN community to host this academic event.
