On May 31, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD), held an online meeting with Ms. Carolyn Turk – Country Director of the World Bank (WB) on the project of building technical infrastructure and necessary works in the UD’s Urban Area in Hoa Quy – Dien Ngoc.

Also attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD; leader representatives from the UD’s Office of Administrative Affairs, relevant functional departments; Mr. Dilip Parajuli and Ms. Vo Kieu Dung – senior educational experts of the WB Vietnam.

Overview of the meeting.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu emphasized the significance of the UD’s construction project in Hoa Quy – Dien Ngoc to the development strategy of the UD in particular, Vietnam’s higher education as well as socio – economic development of the Central – Highlands region and the whole country in general.

Along with two national universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the UD has received valuable attention, direction and support from the Vietnamese Government and the WB in this project which helps the UD become a prestigious training and scientific research center at national and international levels.

Sincerely appreciating the support and companionship of the WB’s experts, the UD’s President stressed: “The project has achieved important milestones”.

After listening to the opinions of the meeting's participants about problems and inadequacies during the project implementation, especially in resettlement arrangement, the WB’s Country Director Carolyn Turk highly appreciated the UD for actively and effectively coordinating with ministries, sectors and localities to implement the project in accordance with the requirements of the Vietnamese Government and the WB.

The WB’s Country Director suggested that the UD’s leaders continue to closely follow the progress milestones, requirements and complete the procedures, documents to ensure quality and progress of the project. For the WB side, its experts will also continue to advise and coordinate closely with the UD during the project implementation.
