On January 26, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, President of the University of Danang (UD), chaired a meeting with Mr. Mori Takero, Consul General of Japan in Danang, to discuss opportunities to expand collaboration between the university and Japanese institutions.

The meeting was attended by senior representatives from UD’s Office of Administration, Department of Science and International Cooperation, and Counselling Center for Employment and self-Supporting Overseas Studies - UD.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu welcomed the Consul General and expressed his delight at hosting the first meeting of the new year. He highlighted opportunities arising from the recent 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which laid a foundation for strengthening Vietnam’s international relations and cooperation, including partnerships in higher education.

Reaffirming international cooperation as a pillar of UD’s development strategy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu emphasized the university’s commitment to deepening and expanding partnerships with Japanese institutions. He expressed hope that Consul General Mori Takero would serve as a bridge to foster collaboration between UD and Japanese universities and businesses- enhancing academic exchanges and creating more internship and career development opportunities for UD students.

Consul General Mori Takero praised the strong relationship between Japan and Vietnam and underscored the importance of education in fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. He congratulated UD on its achievements, noting major milestones recently celebrated by its member universities at their 50th and 40th anniversaries. He also commended UD for being selected by the central government as one of four universities to receive prioritized investment as a model institution in Vietnam’s national education system.

The Consul General highlighted the success of recent collaborative efforts, including faculty and student exchanges, cultural and language programs, and internship opportunities facilitated by University of Foreign Language Studies - UD. He expressed optimism about further successes in the years ahead.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu thanked the Consul General for his ongoing support and active participation in UD’s key events. He concluded the meeting by wishing Mr. Mori Takero a successful tenure in Danang and reaffirmed UD’s commitment to strengthening ties with Japanese partners.
