In the afternoon of February 24th 2023, the University of Danang (UD) in collaboration with JFE Steel Corporation (Japan) organized the JFE scholarship award conferment ceremony for UD students with a total amount of more than 73 million VND.

Attending the scholarship award conferment ceremony were Mr. Shimonishi Kiyoshi- Japanese Deputy Consul General in Da Nang city; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the UD; on the side of JFE Steel Corporation, there were: Mr. Kabeya Kazuhisa- Deputy Director of JFE Steel Research Lab; Mr. Shimokawa Hiroumi - General Manager of JFE Steel Research Lab; Mr. Yoshiki Yasumasa - General Director of JFE Steel Corporation in Vietnam. 

Overview of the ceremony.

The ceremony drew the participation of leader representatives of the UD’s functional departments (International Cooperation, Student Affairs, Japan Center), leaders of the Office of Student Affairs of member universities and scholarship recipients. 

At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr Le Quang Son – Vice President of UD acknowledged, highly appreciated and sincerely thanked the valuable attention and support of JFE Steel Corporation, Japan for UD students in the past 10 years, along with practical and effective cooperation activities such as experience sharing, academic exchange on construction steel materials, internships (at JFE Corporation's Research Lab in Kawasaki) and free Japanese language training for UD students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son congratulated and encouraged the students to continue their efforts, overcome difficulties in learning and training; accumulate their knowledge and skills, especially in term of informatics and foreign languages, to quickly adapt to fast-changing workplace requirements of domestic and international labor market integration. 

On behalf of JFE Steel Corporation, Mr. Kabeya Kazuhisa – Deputy Director of JFE Steel Research Lab expressed his pleasure that the partnership between JFE and UD has been increasing cohesively, practically and effectively. The JFE representative congratulated UD students on receiving this scholarship, hoping to motivate them in the future.

The representative of the Consulate General of Japan in Danang also shared and highly appreciated the significance of academia-industry cooperation in contributing to promoting the strategic partnership between the two countries, especially in the year marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2023). 

Pham Quang Nhut (University of Science and Technology-UD) expressed his gratitude and sincerely thanked the leaders of JFE Steel Corporation and the UD for their attention and meaningful scholarships to help students to overcome difficulties in living and learning. 

The scholarship recipients.

The scholarship conferment ceremony of JFE Corporation in 2023 has 09 students of UD's member universities: 03 full scholarships (70,000 Yen/each, equivalent to 12.2 million VND) and 06 partial scholarships (35,000 Yen/each, equivalent to 6.1 million VND).
