From September 28-30, in Vientiane Capital, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), the delegation of the University of Danang (UD) (Decision of the President of UD No. 3594/QD-DHDN) by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thanh Bac - Vice President of UD as Head of the delegation, along with representatives of UD’s member universities and relevant departments (of Academic Affairs, International Cooperation, Student Affairs) attended the Vietnam Higher Education Exhibition and Forum for improving the training quality in education cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, had a special meaning to celebrate the "Year of Friendship and Solidarity between Vietnam and Laos", 60 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation between the two countries.

As the Diamond Sponsor of the event, UD has fully and actively participated, clearly demonstrated its international prestige in all activities within the framework of the Vietnam Higher Education Exhibition and the Forum of improving training quality in educational cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

Speaking at the Forum, UD Vice President Le Thanh Bac affirmed UD's tradition and experience of more than 20 years of training for Lao students. Up to now, there have been more than 2,500 students (10 doctorates, nearly 400 masters and thousands of bachelors/engineers) graduated from UD’s member universities and UD’s affiliated training units such as: UD-University of Science and Technology, UD-University of Economics, UD-University of Science and Education, and UD-Campus in Kon Tum, etc.

Thanks to  the attention, direction and facilitation of the Government, ministries and branches; Da Nang city as well as localities, agencies, organizations and universities of the two countries promoted the potential and advantages of geo-strategic location, potential of lecturers, facilities, UD always focuses on constantly improving the quality of training for Lao students; coordinates in management, support, care, and creates the best conditions (granting scholarships, setting aside international standard dormitories...) to facilitate  Lao students while studying at UD  so that UD really becomes a prestigious "destination" for generations of Lao students to trust and choose.

Sharing experiences and proposing solutions to continue improving the quality of training for Lao students at UD in particular, and Vietnamese universities in general, UD's leadership representatives emphasized solutions that need to be synchronous and effective, such as: Strengthening the training and improving of Vietnamese language for Lao students; improving and updating programs/ curricula, teaching-learning methods to actively follow the needs and capacities of learners; assigning experienced and enthusiastic homeroom lecturers to advise and accompany with Lao students; organizing many useful and practical activities such as the model of study groups, dialogues, answers to thoughts and aspirations, thereby improving the quality of training, service and activities of the Lao students.

On September 29, in the presence of Vice Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam Nguyen Van Phuc, Minister of Education and Training of Laos Phout Simmalavong and Deputy Ministers of Education and Training, Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Bac - Vice President of UD and Prof. Dr. Somsy Nophanxa- President of School for the Gifted and Ethnic Students, National University of Laos signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), thereby further affirming the active role of UD in contributing to fostering the Vietnam-Laos educational cooperation relationship.

At the exhibition, together with nearly 40 Vietnamese higher education institutions, the exhibition booth of UD introduced a lot of useful information about UD member universities and it’s affiliated units as well as training disciplines, enrollment opportunities and effective promotion, which attracted a large number of officials, students of universities, students of high schools, agencies, organizations and individuals to visit, learn and exchange information, cooperation opportunities.

Earlier, on the morning of September 28, the UD's Delegation visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Lao PDR - Nguyen Ba Hung and First Secretary in charge of Education-Nguyen Dai Thang chaired the meeting.

On the afternoon of September 28, representatives of UD leaders joined the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc and worked with the Lao Ministry of Education and Training; Lao Minister of Education and Training Phout Simmalavong chaired the meeting with the delegation.

On September 30, the UD's Delegation visited the School for the Gifted and Ethnic Students, National University of Laos.
