On January 21, 2022, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) and Prof. Dr. Bernd Kriegesmann - President of the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences (WUAS), Federal Republic of Germany co-chaired the virtual signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Overview of UD’s meeting point 

Attendees were Prof. Dr. André Latour-Vice President of WUAS, Mr. Stefan Hase-Bergen-Head of Representative Office of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Hanoi and representatives’ leaders of relevant units of WUAS and UD.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son-Vice President of UD welcomed and appreciated the significance of the MOU renewal signing, thereby deepening, effectively and firmly establishing the partnership relationship between UD and WUAs.

The ceremony was held online with  the participation of representatives of relevant organizations and units of the two universities.

With the mission of being a national key regional university, which is interested and invested by the Government of Vietnam to shoulder the responsibility of development toward the country's leading prestigious university, pioneering international integration, UD always attaches great importance to and cultivates cooperative relationships with prestigious universities in the world, including WUAS.

“The results of cooperation between the two universities, especially the cooperation in research, training and exchange of lecturers and students between the University of Economics - UD and WUAS are the premise and experience for the two sides to continue expanding cooperation development in line with common needs and interests” – spoke Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son.

Prof. Dr. Bernd Kriegesmann – President of WUAS expressed his pleasure when the two universities continue to sign the MOU in a new period, thereby expanding many cooperation contents to further promote potentials and advantages, bringing more benefits and good values ​​for a long-term cooperation, sticking together for the goal of sustainable development.

The President of WUAS highly appreciated the role and international reputation of UD, and expressed his wishes and beliefs that through the contents of this MOU, the two sides would cooperate and participate in international projects, promote cooperation in training, scientific research and exchange of lecturers and students in fields and specialties of focus of each side.

In the witnesses of leaders of relevant organizations and units, representatives of UD and WUAS leaders signed a MOU, thereby creating a framework and orientation for their member universities and affiliated units to concretize in joint activities.

WUAS is a public educational institution consisting of four member units (at Gelsenkirchen, Bocholt, Recklinghausen, and Ahaus) and has its headquarters in the city of Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Federal Republic of Germany.

WUAS is currently training more than 30 programs in the fields of science, technology and economics. WUAS and UD signed the MOU in 2014, opening concrete and effective cooperation activities with 06 staff and 25 students from UD have been exchanged to WUAS for research and study. At the same time, there have been 6 lectures from WUAS members sent to teach at the University of Economics - UD.
