In the exciting atmosphere of celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year, on the morning of February 3, 2025, The University of Danang (UD) held a meeting with key staff, honored new Professors, new Associate Professors, new Doctors, commended and awarded outstanding teams and individuals.

At the meeting, delegates watched a video reviewing 10 milestones and outstanding events of UD in 2024 (please watch here). The highlight of the Program was the important speech of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Member of the City Party Committee, President of UD. The President of UD emphasized the significance of this spring meeting as a good annual traditional event of UD held annually.

This was an opportunity for all key officials, new Professors, new Associate Professors, new Doctors to wish each other a happy new year, good health, look into each other's eyes with tolerance, generosity, forgiveness, and look forward to a new year with all good things, full of happiness and prosperity.

The President of UD said that 2024 ended with positive innovations and achievements of the country in a volatile world; university education in general and UD in particular still face many challenges and difficulties when investment resources for education are limited, the legal system on university autonomy is still not synchronous and inconsistent, facilities are still difficult, continuing to face increasingly fierce competition pressure in higher education... but with the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, dynamism, creativity and constant efforts and striving, UD has achieved very impressive and comprehensive results in many aspects of work.

In particular, the most remarkable mark was the successful organization of the 30^th Anniversary Ceremony of UD, solemn, thoughtful, and professional, leaving many deep impressions and good feelings on generations of leaders, lecturers, and students of the University, contributing significantly to promoting and enhancing the position of UD.

The President of UD emphasized that, with all humility, we, UD, have the right to be proud of the great results achieved in the past year. Those results created an important premise for sustainable development, bringing excitement, pride, and strong belief in a bright future for UD.

Entering 2025 in the context of the country entering a new era of development, especially recently the Politburo has issued Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, this is considered the golden key to help the country develop in the digital age and global integration.

In particular, the quality of human resources is of key importance, a decisive factor in the success or failure of the country's development. Therefore, the new context can be said to be an opportunity, a great chance for university education in general and UD in particular.

The President of UD requested that leaders at all levels celebrate the new year but do not forget their duties, promote the spirit of initiative, creativity, sharp thinking, and decisive action to seize this great opportunity.

The President closely directed and oriented a number of key tasks in 2025, accordingly, UD’s member universities and units need to urgently adjust the Development Strategy to suit the new situation, determined to successfully carry out the tasks of the 2024-2025 academic year and the 2025 plan; resolutely organize and streamline the apparatus to ensure the apparatus operates effectively and efficiently in the spirit of Resolution No. 18 of the Central Committee;

Continuing to innovate university governance, associated with digital transformation to better serve learners and society, especially successfully organizing the grassroots Party Congress towards the 7^th Party Congress of UD, bringing UD into a new stage of development, truly becoming one of the three centers of training, scientific research and innovation in the country; a "trusted address" in the choice of society, parents and students; truly a common home, a happy home for each member, contributing to accompanying the country into a new era of development, an era of national growth as General Secretary To Lam directed.

On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of UD, the President of UD congratulated and commended the new Professors, new Associate Professors, and new Doctors for their achievements; hoping that they would continue to make further contributions to the development of UD in the coming time.

The President of UD conveyed the spring message: “Lunar New Year - New Spirit - New Determination - New Thinking - New Ways of Doing - Bringing The University of Danang to a New Level of Development”; along with the Standing Leaders of the Party Committee, the Board of Presidents, the Standing Council and the Trade Union of UD, wishing a Happy Lunar New Year to all cadres, lecturers, civil servants, employees and students of UD.

According to the representative of the UD's Department of Personnel Management, in the past year, UD continued to develop its staff strongly, with 01 new Professor, 19 new Associate Professors and 57 new Doctors, bringing the total number of highly qualified staff and lecturers of UD to 08 Professors, 133 Associate Professors and 796 Doctors (reaching a rate of more than 48% of lecturers with PhD degrees or higher, and higher than the national average of about 32%).

Of which, UD - University of Science and Technology achieved the highest rate of nearly 68% (twice as high as the national average); UD - University of Science and Education had the strongest increase compared to the previous year, reaching nearly 62%.

Among the 57 new Doctors of UD this year, many new Doctors were trained, newly recruited, and successfully defended their theses from prestigious universities with advanced education systems such as: France, Japan (each with 04 new Doctors/country), Australia, Russian Federation, Korea, China, Taiwan - China (each with 03 new Doctors/country, territory), Italy (02 new Doctors), Poland, Belgium, Austria (each with 01 new Doctor/country)... This is truly a valuable resource, contributing to continuing to affirm the prestige, leading academic reputation, and building a solid, long-term development foundation for UD as well as its member universities and affiliated units.

The new feature this year is that UD commended and awarded 22 outstanding individuals with outstanding achievements in scientific research; 02 teams and 13 individuals with outstanding achievements in a series of activities celebrating 30 years of building and developing UD.

Also on the morning of the 6^th lunar day, the UD Office held a meeting to congratulate the Lunar New Year to all staff, lecturers and employees; acknowledged the efforts and contributions of the offices, functional departments, institutes, faculties and affiliated centers in the work of advising on operations, management and organizing the successful implementation of policies, plans and action programs contributing to the overall achievements of the UD.
