The University of Danang signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wakayama University, Japan

On the afternoon of December 19, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) and Dr. Motoyama Mitsugi - Director of Wakayama University, Japan co-chaired the meeting and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two universities.

Also attending were professors from the Center for Japanese Studies - Wakayama University: Prof. Nagamoto Ayako – Director of the Center; Prof. Ishihara Shinichi; Mr. Nakamura Kenji - Expert of Research and Community Engagement Department; Mr. Teramoto Takumi - Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department; Representatives of leaders of relevant departments of UD (Academic Affairs, Science and International Cooperation, Student Affairs) and the Japan Center, Center for Learning Resources and Communication.

Speaking to partners, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of UD warmly welcomed President of Wakayama University, Japan - Dr. Motoyama Mitsugi and the delegation to have a working visit and sign an MOU with UD.
Introducing the overview and highlights of UD as a national key regional university, one of Vietnam's leading scientific research and training centers with 06 member universities and UD’s affiliated units, representatives of the leaders of UD said that the leaders of the two universities reaching an agreement on the content and orientation to promote cooperation in order to sign the MOU today is the result of the effective networking and discussion between relevant consulting and coordination units.

Vice President of UD Le Quang Son highly appreciated the significance of the MOU signing ceremony, which will open up opportunities to develop cooperation between the two universities, with many similarities of the multi-disciplinary and multi-field university model will promote the potential and strengths to bring many common values and benefits, not only for officials, lecturers and students of each side but also have practical significance in contributing to cultivating and developing the relationship that has just been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan right on the mark of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Speaking to leaders of UD, Dr. Motoyama Mitsugi - Director of Wakayama University expressed his joy and honor to have the opportunity to join the delegation to visit, work and sign an MOU with UD; He believed and hoped that the cooperative relationship established from this event will promote and bring effective cohesion and cooperation between the two universities in the coming time.

Dr. Motoyama Mitsugi shared with the leaders of UD, based on the good relationship between the Government and the Wakayama Provincial Council, they have signed and implemented an MOU with UD, especially after the Council's Wakayama province visited to UD in August 2023, Wakayama University received the attention, support and connection of the Province to sign an MOU with UD today with a focus on strengthening joint training programs and providing high quality of human resources to serve the socio-economic development needs of localities and businesses of the two countries, including many Japanese businesses investing and cooperating in Vietnam.

According to the signed MOU, UD and Wakayama University will focus on implementing key cooperation activities such as: Exchange lecturers and researchers; Exchange students and interns; Coordinating to deployment for officials, lecturers and students to participate in professional training development and professional skills/ soft skills programs; Exchange of publications and academic documents in the fields of education and science, etc.

Based on this MOU, in the coming time, Wakayama University will promote the signing of an MOA with the University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS) to promote the strengths of both sides, especially in training on Japanese language and culture to materialize and implement the cooperation content that has been agreed to be coordinated by the leaders of the two universities, shared by representatives of Wakayama University leaders.
Wakayama University is a prestigious university with a long tradition (established in 1949) of Japan, locates in Wakayama province, in the Kini region (the North borders Osaka Prefecture, the Southeast borders Mie Prefecture and Nara Prefecture) by the long stretch of beach; Currently, there are schools/ faculties offering multi-disciplinary and multi-field training from engineering to economics, education, tourism, society and information with a capacity of more than 4,000 students.
