UD-UED joins Mekong Subregion Research and Innovation Network

On June 8, 2026, at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, representatives of the leadership of the University of Danang - University of Science and Education (UD-UED) participated in and signed a Research and Innovation Cooperation Agreement under the Mekong Subregion Higher Education Network, together with partner universities from Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

The network serves as a collaborative platform for research and innovation aimed at promoting sustainable development among higher education institutions across the Mekong subregion. It currently comprises 17 member institutions, with UD-UED recognized as one of its core members.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Minh, Rector of UD-UED, the University has consistently taken a proactive and pioneering role in international integration by strengthening connections with regional and global knowledge, research, and innovation networks.

The University's participation in the network reaffirms its growing international reputation while creating additional opportunities to expand cooperation, develop interdisciplinary research groups, increase scientific publications, accelerate digital transformation, enhance research and innovation capacity, and strengthen community engagement throughout the Mekong subregion.

At the forum, UD-UED introduced the “Learning Tourism” initiative, an innovative model that integrates cultural preservation, environmental protection, and community education while contributing to sustainable livelihood development.

The University also shared its perspectives and vision on the future of education in the context of the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and its transformative impact on various sectors, including higher education.

Under the cooperation agreement, UD-UED and its network partners will promote collaborative research and innovation associated with digital transformation while accelerating the application of artificial intelligence in education and university governance.

The member institutions also committed to actively conducting research on climate change adaptation, water resource management, environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and cultural preservation linked to the development of sustainable tourism.
