Recently, The University of Danang - Vietnam–Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU) officially appointed Prof. Harald Kuhn, Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems (ENAS), Germany, as Strategic Advisor to the University.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap, Rector of UD-VKU, the appointment represents an important milestone in the University's strategy to leverage international expertise and strengthen global partnerships in strategic technology areas. The initiative aims to capitalize on the academic reputation, international networks and strategic vision of leading scientists and experts worldwide, thereby enhancing UD-VKU's research capabilities and supporting its development in response to emerging technological and societal challenges.

During the working session, UD-VKU leaders highly valued Prof. Harald Kuhn's academic achievements and contributions, particularly in the field of quantum technologies. The University expressed its expectation that, in his new role, Prof. Kuhn will support and accompany UD-VKU in its long-term ambition to become a leading digital technology university with international standing.
Sharing his perspectives, Prof. Harald Kuhn noted that with Da Nang positioning itself as a regional innovation hub and a centre for strategic industries, UD-VKU possesses significant potential and favourable conditions to attract researchers, academics and students in emerging technology fields. He identified semiconductor and integrated circuit technologies, as well as financial technology (FinTech), as strategic areas well aligned with both regional development priorities and global industry trends.

Prof. Harald Kuhn also recommended that UD-VKU further expand its focus on photonics and quantum communications, highlighting these as high-potential technologies with broad future applications across industries and society. In addition, he shared international experiences and proposed research infrastructure models for semiconductor technology development, including the cost-effective and scalable "Cleanroom in the Room" concept for advanced semiconductor research and training activities.
With aligned strategic visions and complementary strengths, the collaboration between UD-VKU and Prof. Harald Kuhn is expected to significantly strengthen research capacity in strategic technologies and facilitate international knowledge exchange. Furthermore, it will serve as a bridge for expanding cooperation in education, research and high-quality human resource development, driving UD-VKU's internationalisation strategy and deeper global integration.
