Recently, the University of Danang (UD)’s member universities such as University of Science and Technology (DUT), Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (VKU) have worked with NVIDIA – one of the prestigious suppliers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology products, especially GPU chips.

At the meetings with leaders of the UD’s member universities, Dr. Ettikan Karuppiah – Manager of the South Asia – Pacific region of NVIDIA, said that the corporation has a strategy to invest in high technology in Vietnam, accordingly, there is a great demand for engineers with AI expertise. NVIDIA wished to cooperate with the UD’s member universities to train lecturers and students in advanced technology fields such as AI.

Director of NVIDIA Vietnam Vu Manh Cuong shared an introduction to the AI training program for university lecturers (Train the Trainers) “NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) University Ambassador Program”. This is a program led and trained by experienced technology experts in AI and computer science, granting lecturers the right to use resources and documents shared by NVIDIA to teach students.

According to the leader representative of Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology, the university has started training in AI since 2021, and currently has more 200 students. Together with other member universities of the UD, VKU is the pioneer in training students in semiconductor design. The period 2024-2027 is expected to train about 500 new students and transfer about 180 students of relevant majors to semiconductor design.

From 2028 onwards, VKU will have students graduating in the major of semiconductor circuit design. In addition, every year, the university recruits and trains “Accelerator” classes and coordinates with businesses to train 60-100 students in this major.

VKU’s projects are promoting investment and have deployed labs and server systems of AI to meet the requirements of training, research and innovation.

By connecting and cooperating with prestigious and branded enterprises such as NVIDIA, member universities of the UD can expand the number of lecturers, contributing to improving the capacity of teaching and researching advanced technology fields. In Danang alone, NVIDIA will select 10 lecturers to train an estimated 2,000 students each year in the field of AI.
