Danang News: Da Nang’s efforts to attract global students, promoting multicultural academic environment

Thanks to its safe living environment, developed education, and various meaningful community activities, Da Nang is attracting a growing number of international students to study and participate in volunteer activities and exchange programs.
Spreading Culture
After nearly a month participating in activities within the framework of the Sejong (South Korea) Internship Program at the University of Foreign Language Studies - the University of Da Nang, Lee Na Young gained many valuable experiences.
Notably, the South Korean girl took part in experiential activities and visits to tourist attractions, thereby gaining deeper insights into Da Nang’s local culture.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Long, Rector of the University of Foreign Language Studies - the University of Da Nang, the implementation of the international internship programs further affirms the university’s great efforts in expanding cooperation, promoting cultural exchange, and fostering educational integration, thereby enhancing its position in the international academic environment.
Lingjie Bao, an exchange student from the Guizhou Minzu University in China currently studying at the University of Education and Science - the University of Da Nang, shared that after several months of studying and living in Da Nang, her Vietnamese language skills have improved significantly.
Lingjie Bao realized that studying abroad was not just about acquiring knowledge, but also learning how to live and experience the wider world through a new language and an open heart.
The friendliness and warmth of local people, plus the dedication of lecturers and support of friends at the university, have given Lingjie Bao a comprehensive and deeply meaningful study-abroad experience.

Expanding international integration
According to Ms. Ho Long Ngoc, Deputy Head of the Department of the Science, Technology and International Cooperation at the University of Da Nang, the number of international students enrolling at its member institutions has increased significantly over the years.
In the 2024 - 2025 academic year, the University of Da Nang welcomed 1,263 students from 38 countries, an increase of approximately 5.8% compared to the previous year.
Of these, students from Laos accounted for the highest percentage of over 40%. Other major student groups came from China, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand with around 300 - 400 students each year.
Notably, for the first time, students from Canada, Finland, Spain, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Venezuela, Switzerland, and Bulgaria have come to study at the University of Da Nang, further expanding the diversity of its international student body.
To further promote its internationalization strategy, the University of Da Nang has actively participated in global educational cooperation networks such as the ASEAN - European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET), the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP), and a newly established global university alliance.
Every year, the University of Da Nang organizes gatherings for international students to foster connections, encourage sharing and spread positive energy within the international student community. These events provide opportunities to enhance cultural exchange, mutual understanding and friendship among international students studying at the University of Da Nang.
Through these efforts, the University of Da Nang continues to promote its image as a friendly and attractive destination for learning, research, and creativity.
