Within the framework of the event series “Celebrating the 5th Establishment Anniversary of VKU: 22-year journey of history and development”, on the afternoon of January 2, 2025, the University of Danang-Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology (UD-VKU) organized the Global Strategic Partnership Summit. The event not only marked an important milestone in the development journey of UD-VKU but also opened up opportunities to connect and expand cooperation with domestic and foreign strategic partners.

Overview of the Summit

The summit was chaired by Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President UD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of UD-VKU and Prof. Dr. Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn – Vice President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), Thailand.

Also attending, on the UD-VKU side were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh – Chair of the University Council, Dr. Tran The Son – Vice Rector; on the domestic and international guests side were: Mr. Park Kyoung Bae – Technical Director of Hanwha Life; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy – President of FISU Vietnam; Dr. Nguyen Long – Vice President, General Secretary of VAIP – Vietnam Association for Information Processing; Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu – Director of Institute of Information Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi, VNU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thu Lam – General Secretary of FISU Vietnam; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh – Vice Rector of Phenikaa University, Dr. Ly Thien Trang – Vice Rector of HUTECH University; Representatives of Leaders of Partner Enterprises, domestic and international experts and leaders of Departments and Faculties of the University.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – UD-VKU’s rector delivered the opening speech

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Cong Phap – Rector of UD-VKU expressed his most sincere thanks to the partners who have cooperated with UD-VKU in the past 5 years. The attention and companionship of the partners have contributed to supporting UD-VKU to become a bridge between educational institutions, businesses and the international community. After 5 years of establishment and more than two decades of formation and development, UD-VKU has been affirming its position in the field of training, in-depth research in the field of information technology, communications and digital economy in the Central – Central region and oriented to reach international level. Thereby, UD-VKU continues to affirm that UD-VKU’s top goal is to build an advanced academic environment, combining modern technological knowledge and practical application. In the context of globalization and the 4.0 industrial revolution, VKU not only focuses on training high-quality human resources but also focuses on connecting and cooperating with strategic partners to develop breakthrough projects. We hope that this Global Strategic Partnership Summit will be the first step with many new cooperation initiatives, bringing practical benefits to all parties and creating sustainable values for society.

Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President shared at the summit

In his congratulatory remarks, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President emphasized the importance of the forum, especially as UD-VKU strives to become a leading center for research and technology education. He highlighted UD-VKU’s remarkable progress over the past five years, evident in its achievements in faculty development, the establishment of modern training programs, and the expansion of its international partnership network. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son noted that today’s summit serves as an opportunity for UD-VKU and its partners to discuss solutions for advancing strategic collaborations in education and specialized research. He stressed that partnerships should extend beyond signing memorandums of understanding to practical implementations through specific projects that bring tangible benefits to all parties involved. He expressed his hope that, with its potential to pioneer the training of high-quality human resources to meet the growing demands of the labor market, VKU’s partners would continue to accompany and support the university in building a dynamic and innovative ecosystem of education and technology. This ecosystem would not only benefit the Central Region but also contribute to the nation as a whole.

Attending the seminar, delegates also shared strategic directions and cooperation initiatives in areas such as transnational education, scientific research, technology transfer, and high-quality human resource development. The contributions clarified the opportunities and challenges in the context of globalized education, especially in the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution.

UD-VKU’s representative and its partners conducted the MoU Exchange

At the summit, the MoU exchanging ceremony between UD-VKU and partners took place, including:

• UD-VKU cooperates with LG Electronics R&D Vietnam – Da Nang Branch: Strengthening cooperation in research, high technology application and digital human resource development.
• UD-VKU cooperates with University of Northampton (UK): Developing Top-up 2+2, 3+1 programs, joint research and student exchange.
• UD-VKU cooperates with Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Korea): Cooperation in the fields of online training, Korean language education and research.
• UD-VKU cooperates with Hansikuen Co., Ltd (HSE): Implementing the Cultural Exchange and Educational Startup program scheduled to take place in April 2025. The event is expected to gather more than 10,000 participants, held at UD- VKU and Da Nang City.

The summit concluded in an exciting atmosphere, marking a significant milestone in the celebration of UD-VKU’s 5th establishment anniversary: a 22-year journey of history and sustainable development. This event not only provided an opportunity to reflect on proud achievements but also set a strategic direction for future growth, reinforcing VKU’s role as a leading center for education and technology research. Once again, the event affirmed UD-VKU’s spirit of international cooperation, its dedication to training high-quality human resources, and its commitment to fostering technological innovation towards excellence.
