Leaders of the University of Danang welcomed and worked with the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City

Recently, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son – Vice President of the University of Danang (UD) has hosted the meeting and worked with Consul General Marie C. Damour - The U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City (The U.S. Consulate General in HCMC).

Attending the meeting were Ms. Michelle Cloud - Information Officer; Mr. Leonard Leid - Consular Officer and assistants of the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC; leader representatives of the Department of Administration, Department of International Cooperation and School of International Cooperation - UD.

At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UD respectfully welcomed and highly appreciated the visit of the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC delegation, considered this a valuable opportunity for the two sides to learn and exchange opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture.

Vice President Le Quang Son introduced the outstanding overview of UD which is the national key regional university, the leading training, scientific research and international cooperation center of the Central Highlands region, as well as Vietnam.

UD always attaches great importance to the role of the U.S. Consulate General. UD wishes to be supported by the U.S. Consulate General to connect, continue to develop and nurture the cooperative relationships with international partners, including American organizations, universities and reputable enterprises - Vice President Le Quang Son shared.

Talking with leaders of UD, Consul General Marie C. Damour - The U.S. Consulate General in HCMC expressed her joy and gratitude to leaders of UD for giving the delegation a respectful welcome.

Consul General Marie C. Damour acknowledged and highly appreciated the prestige and academic status of UD, especially in cooperation relationships with American universities and partners.

The U.S. Consulate General in HCMC welcomed and expected UD and relevant agencies of Vietnam to continue their efforts to accompany and share experiences with the world in joining hands to repel the COVID-19 pandemic with the initial positive results, which were very remarkable.

The Consul General shared a number of contents during the meeting with leaders of Da Nang city, thereby proposing conditions for the two sides to strengthen coordination in the University-Business cooperation programs via AmCham; Fulbright Scholar Program to cooperate with universities; Education USA program for students, etc.

 Focusing on STEM Education

and fostering a spirit of innovation 

The two sides also exchanged and discussed areas of cooperation that American universities and partners have strengths such as Biomedical, Biotechnology, Communication, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Education on STEM (a combination of Science-Technology and Mathematics), thereby promoting the exchange of experts, faculty and students between the two countries.

On this occasion, the U.S. Consulate General in HCMC delegation visited the Innovation Maker Space of UD, a place to foster the spirit of innovation to serve the community for lecturers and students under the framework of BUILD-IT project, which is a partnership between UD with USAID and Arizona State University, USA.
