On 21 June, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD), joined the multilateral online meeting with the Francophone Universities Association (AUF) and partners on the establishment of the Network of Francophone Universities with Responsibility and Comprehensive Cooperation (RUFRI).

Also attending at the UD were Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Nhan – Director of DNIIT International Institute of Technology and leader representative of the UD’s Department of Science and International Cooperation.

The online meeting had the participation of Ms. Marie-Nathalie LeBlanc – Vice President of AUF, Mr. Jean-Francois Lancelot – Network Manager of AUF, leaders of member universities of AUF across the world.

According to the representative of AUF, in the strategy for the period 2021-2025, with the desire to connect French-speaking universities, AUF has decided to establish RUFRI.

Speaking at the meeting, the UD’s President Nguyen Ngoc Vu highly appreciated the online meeting as a milestone to open a new era of promising cooperation, suitable for the context and development prospects of AUF generally and the UD particularly.

The UD always attaches great importance to international cooperation, considering it the key to integration and contribution to improving the quality of training and scientific research for the goal of sustainable development. Since 1995, the UD has always been an active member of AUF as well as General Conference of Rectors of French-speaking universities (CONFRASIE)

The UD’s President shared the results of cooperation between the UD and AUF in recent time, typically: Established and implemented French-taught programs at different levels; established DNIIT International Institute of Technology within the trilateral cooperation between the UD – AUF – University of Côte d’Azur; cooperated with AUF to support and award scholarships to students of the UD; implemented AUF-funded projects at the UD’s member universities,…

The UD’s President sincerely thanked the valuable support and companionship of AUF as well as other partners for the development of the UD.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu expressed his gratitude to AUF’s leaders for giving the UD the opportunity to participate in the establishment of RUFRI, considering it as a great initiative to achieve targets of AUF, especially in terms of social responsibility.

RUFRI is expected to launch during the World Francophone Science Week organized by AUF in Toulouse (France) from October 14-18, 2024.
