President of the University of Danang received the Vice Mayor of Mimasaka city, Japan

On July 5, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD) chaired a meeting with Mr. Haruna Nobuaki – Vice Mayor of Mimasaka city (Japan) and Mr. Sato Nobuyoshi – Chairman of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of Mimasaka city cum Chairman of the city’s Commerce Association.

Also attending the meeting were other delegates from Mimasaka city; leader representatives of the UD’s Office of Administrative Affairs, Department of Science and International Cooperation, Japan Center, Center for Learning Information Resource and Communication.

At the reception, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu respectfully welcome the Vice Mayor and the delegation of Mimasaka city to visit and work with the UD.

The UD’s President introduced to the partner the general and outstanding features of the UD which is currently a key regional, multidisciplinary university including 6 member universities and other affiliated training units, with nearly 2,600 staff and about 60,000 students.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu said that in its development strategy, the UD always considers international cooperation as one of the pillars to improve the quality of training and scientific research. Many officials and lecturers of the UD trained in Japan are holding key positions and contributing actively to the development of the university.

Expressing his honor to welcome and work with the Mimasaka city delegation, the UD’s President shared his emotions and admiration for the country and people of Japan, wishing to have more opportunities to cooperate with the Japan side.

The UD’s President hoped that this visit of the Mimasaka city delegation would be a “bridge” for the two sides to continue to deepen cooperation with more specific results.

For his part, Vice Mayor of Mimasaka city Haruna Nobuaki respectfully thanked the UD’s President for the warm welcome. He said that this was the second time he had visited and worked with the UD and always promoted the good and close cooperative relations between the two sides over the past nearly 10 years.

Every year, Mimasaka city receives a graduate from the UD to work at the city’s government.

Mr. Nobuaki hoped that in the coming time, Mimasaka city will receive more graduates from the UD who develop their career and contribute to the development of the city.

Mr. Sato Nobuyoshi – Chairman of Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of Mimasaka city cum Chairman of Mimasaka city’s Commerce Association, said that the locality is making changes in accepting foreign workers and wished to receive human resources with higher qualifications.

This year, through the recommendation of the association, Mimasaka enterprises have accepted 3 more engineers from Da Nang (2 graduates from University of Science and Technology, 1 from University of Technology and Education). After that, many Japanese enterprises contacted the association to recruit engineers from the UD.

The UD’s President Nguyen Ngoc Vu emphasized that the UD highly values Japanese partners. Among universities in Vietnam, only the UD has the Japan Center as a focal point for cooperation with Japanese partners to introduce students to practice and work for Japanese localities and enterprises.

Mimasaka city’s representatives shared that 2025 will mark the 20th anniversary of the recognition of Mimasaka as an administrative unit of Japan. Therefore, they hoped to welcome the UD’s leaders to visit the city to strengthen cooperation in many aspects of mutual benefits.
