On the evening of November 12, 2024, at the Finals of Miss International 2024 Contest held in Tokyo, Japan, female student Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, Faculty of English, ​​The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies (UD-UFLS) was crowned Miss International. This is the first time a representative of Vietnam has been crowned Miss International.

Surpassing 76 contestants from many countries and territories, the female student representing Vietnam with the title of Miss Vietnam 2022 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy (22 years old, 1.76m height) with her intellectual beauty and excellent foreign language skills conquered the judges and audiences around the world.

Giving a convincing answer in English in the Behavior round on the topic of education with the question "What is the most important global event that has affected the education system of your generation?", Thanh Thuy confidently shared, "Thank you for your question. I think it is the rise of the global education system during COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the pandemic, we have to stay at home and study online. This is an opportunity for the development of Edtech.

I hope students will have more opportunities to explore and learn through Edtech because this is number 4 in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), aiming for equality in education" (Edtech is an abbreviation of the English word Education Technology - referring to the application of technology in the education sector to improve the learning process).

The highlight that shows the humanity and kindness that Miss Thanh Thuy brings to the Miss International 2024 is the “Water Revival” Project - regenerating clean water sources. According to Thanh Thuy, this is the Project that Thuy cherishes to bring to this year's Contest to contribute to the realization of goal number 3 (health and good life) and goal number 6 (clean water and sanitation) in the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations.

Bringing Vietnamese beauty to international friends

Saltwater intrusion has caused many difficulties in the lives of people in Thanh Phong commune, Thanh Phu district (Ben Tre province). Lack of clean water not only affects health but also threatens livelihoods and daily activities. Based on the direct survey and visit of people, Thanh Thuy participated in the installation of a water filtration system (free of charge) at Thanh Phong Commune Kindergarten.

The initial results of the Project have brought practical benefits, helping people have more convenient access to fresh water. Especially, Thanh Thuy's wish is for the children to grow up healthy and happy.

The new Miss International 2024 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy is currently a student at University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies. According to Thanh Thuy, she chose to study English Language to have many opportunities to integrate internationally and to be able to bring her foreign language knowledge and skills to contribute to promoting and introducing the country and people of Vietnam to international friends, including the beautiful, hospitable city of Da Nang with rich tourism potential.

Thanh Thuy received an International Student Exchange Scholarship from Ubon Ratchathani University (Thailand) and won the title of Miss of The University of Danang - University of Foreign Language Studies, 1st Runner-up of the Talented and Elegant Students Contest of Da Nang City 2021, and Miss Vietnam 2022.
