The BaseM team, composed of students from the University of Danang–University of Science and Technology (UD-DUT), won the Award of Excellence at the eProjects Innovation Showcase 2025 held in Ho Chi Minh City.

The team members are Phan Le Quynh Ngoc (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering), Thai Minh Tam (Faculty of Electrical Engineering), Pham Nguyen Khanh Hung (Faculty of Transportation Mechanical Engineering), Tran Ngoc Hanh Nguyen (Faculty of Chemical Engineering), and Le Doan Phu (Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology). They were supervised by Dr. Le Ly Thuy Tram and Dr. Nguyen Van Minh.

Their project, “Automated Tank-to-Packaging Label Verification,” tackles a common challenge in industrial production: accurate and efficient label verification. By leveraging optical character recognition (OCR) technology, the system automates the inspection process, replacing manual checks to ensure precision and safety when connecting pipes and packaging, while reducing human error.

“The manual inspection of labels in production is both time-consuming and error-prone,” said team member Thai Minh Tam. “Our automated system offers a practical solution for manufacturers seeking greater efficiency and reliability.”

The BaseM team impressed a panel of industry experts and business leaders through two rounds—a poster presentation and a live pitch. Their innovative approach and real-world applicability earned them the competition’s top honor.

The eProjects Innovation Showcase, organized by Arizona State University (ASU) and Dow Vietnam in partnership with leading international companies such as Rockwell Automation, First Solar, and HBQ Technology, challenges students from top technical universities across Vietnam to solve real-world problems using interdisciplinary knowledge and essential soft skills.

The competition aims to inspire students to apply STEM, automation, artificial intelligence, logistics, and smart communication technologies, fostering a culture of innovation and community impact.
