On November 3, University of Foreign Language Studies (UFLS) – the University of Danang (UD) hosted the Vietnamese Eloquence Contest for foreign students in Vietnam 2023, the Preliminary round in the Central region.

This is a contest launched and organized by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to create a playground to improve Vietnamese language proficiency for students, contributing to promoting Vietnamese education and culture with international friends; strengthening exchanges and integration of Vietnamese language and culture with countries around the world.

Speaking at the opening session of the contest, Dr. Nguyen Hai Thanh – Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation – MOET, Deputy Head of the Contest Organizing Committee said that the contest was organized nationwide for the first time by the Ministry and received a large number of responses from international students as well as the support and companionship of training institutions.

With about 22,000 foreign students studying in Vietnam, of which the Central region has about 5,000 learners at nearly 40 training institutions including UFLS – UD. This is a prestigious training institution, a destination to attract students in the region and internationally. Vietnamese language proficiency is a necessary factor and prerequisite condition to ensure and improve the quality of learning and research of students.

Sharing the honor of being entrusted by the MOET with the responsibility of hosting this meaningful contest, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc – Rector of UFLS-UD said that with the mission of training and researching languages, culture and human civilizations, the university is training various foreign  languages, from  pedagogy, translation-interpretation to language and culture,  tourism,  international studies and Vietnamese language at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

UFLS-UD is truly the destination, a reliable Vietnamese language and culture training institution for foreign students.

Regarding the results of the Central region Preliminary Round, the 1st prize was awarded to the team of UFLS-UD, the 2nd prizes belonged to Vinh University of Medicine and University of Science and Education – UD.

The 3rd prizes belonged to the teams of Vinh University of Technology and Education, University of Foreign Languages – Hue University, Duy Tan University.

Twelve excellent teams from the preliminary round will continue to participate in the national final round with the theme “Vietnam in me”, scheduled to be held in early December.
