The Opening ceremony of the 2025 short-term study tour program between the University of Danang and Konan University, Japan

On the morning of February 25, 2025, the University of Danang (UD) held the opening ceremony for the 2025 short-term study tour program with Konan University (KU), Japan, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shari Ann Hanami Yamamoto and Mr. Taiki Niimi from the Konan International Exchange Center, KU.

Also attending were senior representatives of UD -Department of Science and International Cooperation, along with 16 students from KU. This activity was under the framework of the agreement between the two universities to connect, exchange, and attract international students, as well as enhance capacity and the level of internationalization in higher education.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - welcomed KU’s delegation for visiting and exchanging with UD. This activity realized the content of the cooperation agreement between the two universities signed in 2023 with a common vision to achieve positive results.

shared her ideas
UD is invested by the Vietnamese Government in its development strategy until 2030, with a vision towards 2045, aiming to become a National University and one of the top 3 centers for training, scientific research, and international cooperation in the country, reputable in the region and the world. To achieve its strategic goals, UD places great importance on developing international cooperation with universities worldwide, including Japan, with many reliable partner universities such as KU.

Mr. Taiki Niimi shared his ideas
Sharing the vision in the process of integration and internationalization of higher education, with the mission of educating students towards global citizenship, the UD’s senior representative hoped that this Program would bring opportunities for staff, faculty, especially students from both sides to exchange concerning issues in academics, culture, and common goals for sustainable development.

The experiences throughout the journey at UD were hoped to not only be beautiful memories for KU students but also foster the connection between the two universities so that the program becomes an annual activity.
At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shari Ann Hanami Yamamoto expressed her pleasure and shared feelings upon entering UD with the bankroll "Warmly welcome the delegation from Konan University, Japan to the University of Danang”. She also highly appreciated the meeting and exchange of lecturers and students with a series of memorable events at the beginning of the new year at UD.

This would be a tangible result of the commitment and desire for cooperation between the two universities, aiming for global educational connections. She was delighted and hoped that this valuable opportunity would provide a broader perspective in a multicultural environment for them, allowing them to interact and experience the dynamic and hospitable country and people in Vietnam.
According to the plan (from February 24 to March 2, 2025), the two sides would coordinate to organize and participate in a series of seminars focused on key topics such as Research and Development of Sustainable Environments, Vietnam's Economy and Globalization, Heritage and Cultural Architecture…

These seminars would be accompanied and led by lecturers and experts from the member universities of UD (UD - University of Science and Technology, UD - University of Economics, and UD - University of Science and Education).

The KU delegation also interacted with UD’s students; visited the Toyota Okayama Da Nang; experienced and explored local culture and cuisine; and visited the attractions and heritage sites in Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province.

KU is located in Kobe, Japan.
