The President of the University of Danang received Professor Tran Van Tho, Waseda University, Japan

On the afternoon of May 30, 2022, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of the University of Danang (UD) had a meeting with Prof. Tran Van Tho - Waseda University, Japan. Attending the meeting were Prof. Tran Van Nam - former President of UD; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice President of UD; representatives of the leaders of the relevant departments; representative of the Board of Managers of UD-University of Economics.

At the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - President of UD shared with Prof. Tran Van Tho the overview and highlights of UD which are a prestigious university with a long experience of  training and scientific research of the Central - Central Highlands and the whole country. On the way of establishment and development, UD has always been a reliable institution of training high-quality human resources, which is trusted and selected by many candidates and parents.

On average, UD has 70-100 new PhDs each year, most of them are trained in advanced countries. The international publication of UD has increased rapidly in recent years. UD is interested by the Government, directed for investment, restarted the University Urban Area Project (in Hoa Quy, Dien Ngoc) to continue developing...

In order to promote its role and mission, UD urgently needs a team of prestigious scientists and experts to consult, develop and criticizeocio-economic development policies for localities in order to contribute to the development of the region and the country.

The President of UD expressed his wish to invite Prof. Tran Van Tho to participate in teaching and research at UD, and in the upcoming visits to Vietnam, Prof. Tran Van Tho would be the guest speaker or visiting professor so that UD’s students can inherit and learn valuable  knowledge and experience from him.

The President of UD expressed his hope that Prof. Tran Van Tho, with his prestige and influence, will support UD to connect with international scientists, professors and scholars, including Japanese universities to teach and collaborate in research and science.

Talking with the leaders of UD, Prof. Tran Van Tho highly appreciated the position and scale of UD as a large university, equivalent to Waseda University, Japan; expressed his belief that with clear goals and directions, UD will definitely make efforts to achieve and "can totally set higher goals, to go further".

Prof. Tran Van Tho shared some development experiences of Japanese and international universities that tend to combine training in natural sciences with social sciences so that learners can become successful professional leaders with an open vision according to the philosophy of Liberal Education.

In the context of the industrial revolution 4.0 that is rapidly changing technology along with economic, political and environmental fluctuations, it is very important to train and equip learners with basic knowledge. From that, students can self-improve and develop their thinking, knowledge and skills and adapt to the environment and the era.

For the development of the country, Prof. Tran Van Tho highly appreciated the role of universities, including the institute-university relationship, which if this develops effectively, it will actively contribute to the realization of the goal that Vietnam will become a high-income country in 2045.

UD should establish research institutes in the fields of economy, politics, society and natural sciences, thereby creating favorable conditions for professors and lecturers to combine teaching and research well. The UD-University of Economics can focus on building a quality annual report and research on socio-economic development to help businesses and authorities have more useful sources of scientific information for reference.

Prof. Tran Van Tho expressed his willingness to support and connect so that UD can expand cooperation with more prestigious partners; as well as introduced propose UD to have the opportunity to participate in international  projects with – Japanese partners.
