On the morning of April 5^th, 2022, H.E. Ms. Pilar Méndez Jiménez – the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Spain to Vietnam and Mr. Brian Wright-Director of La Liga Vietnam   had a working visit to the University of Danang (UD). Attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – UD’s President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son – UD’s Vice President in charge of research and international cooperation and senior leaders of relevant departments (International Cooperation; Academic Affairs; Science, Technology and Environment; Student Affairs).

At the meeting, President Nguyen Ngoc Vu warmly welcomed H.E. Ms. Pilar Méndez Jiménez to UD as well as briefly introduced the overview and highlights of UD. “UD is currently being received the attention, direction and investment of the Government to become one of three leading centers for training and scientific research, adapting the mission of providing high-quality human resources for the socio-economic development of the Central area- Western Highland and the country as a whole. In order to carry out UD’s strategic goal, we always attach great importance to three pillars, which are improving the training quality, promoting scientific research, and strengthening international cooperation” shared President Nguyen Ngoc Vu.

Focusing on building and expanding international cooperation network with prestigious European partners, including Spanish ones, which take a great significance in the process of integration and development of UD, thereby promoting the lecturers and students exchange programs and research cooperation activities for the mutual benefit.

At the meeting, H.E. Ms. Pilar Méndez Jiménez expressed her pleasure and honor to have an opportunity to visit UD. According to Ms. Pilar Méndez Jiménez, Danang was becoming one of reliable and important partners in the strategic development process, therefore, with a role as an Ambassador, she would make efforts to connect and promote the cooperation relationship among UD and other Spanish universities.

Ambassador Pilar Méndez Jiménez highly appreciated the active participation of UD in Erasmus projects sponsored by the European Community. Moreover, she expressed her desire to establish the Spanish language training program at UD, thereby contributing to promote the cooperation, cultural exchange and Eurasian integration.

After the meeting, there was a talk show of H. E. Ms. Pilar Méndez Jiménez with UD’s students on the Economic Value of Spanish language and a presentation on “Sports Business”: an international career path of Mr. Brian Wright – Director of LaLiga Vietnam.

The working visit to UD of the Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam continued to affirm the UD’s international prestige and efforts to constantly expand international cooperation and integration, especially in the fields of education and training, science and technology, language and cultural exchange.
