The University of Danang develops cooperation with National Institute of Technology – KOSEN (Japan)

On 6th September, 2024, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu – President of the University of Danang (UD), chaired a meeting and signed the extension of cooperation agreements with Dr. Taniguchi Isao – President of National Institute of Technology – KOSEN (Japan).

Also attending were leader representatives of International Affairs and Planning Department of KOSEN; leader representatives from the UD’s functional departments: Science and International Cooperation, Academic Affairs and Educational Quality Assurance, Student Affairs; representatives of board of rectors of the UD’s member universities: University of Science and Technology, University of Technology and Education, Vietnam – Korea University of Information and Communication Technology; leader representatives of VNUK Institute for Research and Executive Education, Software Development Center.

Speaking to the partner at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu welcomed Dr. Taniguchi Isao and the staff members of KOSEN to visit and sign the cooperation agreements with the UD.

The UD’s President shared with the KOSEN’s leader some highlights since the two sides signed the MOU and MOA in 2019.

This year, the UD celebrates its 30th anniversary of establishment, marking a milestone in its development journey. It is an opportunity to look back at its highlights, aspirations and visions in the upcoming development period with the goal of striving to become a national university, one of the three leading training and scientific research centers of the country carrying out the mission of providing high-quality human resources, especially in key industries such as semiconductor chips, artificial intelligence, etc.

To achieve this goal, the UD attached great importance to the strategy of developing international cooperation, especially in the context of the international integration.

Looking back at the results achieved in the past time, since the two sides signed the cooperation agreements so far, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, some of the agreements’ contents may not be achieved as expected. However, this visit of KOSEN’s leaders and the extension of cooperation agreements are very meaningful for the two sides to move towards a more effective and practicial cooperation period.

The UD hoped that the two sides will promote international student exchange as well as develop other cooperation contents such as connecting “three parties” (Government – University – Enterprises), thereby continuously improving the quality of training and scientific research, promoting the potentials and strengths of each side.

For his part, Dr. Taniguchi Isao – President of KOSEN, expressed his joy and shared the highlights of KOSEN which is a training system from secondary school to undergraduate level to provide basic knowledge of science and technology for thousands of students.

In addition to basic knowledge training, KOSEN also focuses on developing practical skills and high professional application, aiming to equip students with enough capacity and creative thinking in the future.

Highly evaluating the leading role and position of the UD, especially in the Central – Highlands region as well as the whole country, KOSEN’s leader acknowledged the results of cooperation with the UD in recent years, especially in the challenging context of the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the ceremony, the leaders of the UD and KOSEN signed the extension of agreements with the main contents on: (1) Academic exchange, (2) Student exchange, thereby continuing cooperation in training, scientific research and international cooperation, focusing on the exchange of students, lecturers, staff and researchers, exchange of academic resources and scientific information, coordination in joint projects,…
